Being with Harvest made me realize that I was never supposed to marry Ivy. Ivy had been through things with me, and I felt like I was obligated to give her the life she wanted, but I wasn’t. I was getting older and wanted kids, and Ivy was convenient. I had love for her, but I wasn’t in love with her like I thought. She had some damn audacity, showing up here acting like I had done her wrong. I wasn’t even mad about the wedding because it led me to Harvest.

Before I got out of the truck, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and sent Harvest a text.

Me:

Time to come home, mama.

I tooksome much-needed time to figure out what I wanted to do about Boston and our marriage, and I wanted to stay with him. I read the text message he sent multiple times. Those five words made my heart flutter each time I read them.

There was no reason why I couldn’t see things through. Yeah, we moved fast as hell, but it felt right. Victor tried to call me, but I didn’t respond to him. There was nothing left for me to say. I didn’t want things to get ugly between us, but I couldn’t change the way things happened. If he wouldn’t have reacted the way he did, things could have been different. I had to block his number because he called more than once. I thought he would have left things alone after Boston threatened him, but maybe he didn’ttake him seriously. I just hoped we never had to find out if he was or not.

I had just finished my second photo shoot of the day, when my phone rang with an unknown number. I almost didn’t answer because I thought it was Victor, but I decided to see who it was because it could have been a photo opportunity. Usually, my manager set those things up, but sometimes, the companies reached directly out to me.

“Hello,” I answered on the third ring.

“Hi, is this Harvest?” The voice wasn’t familiar, so I was on high alert.

“This is she.”

Instead of pulling out of the parking lot, I waited to see what the call was about. I was nervous because it could have been about anything.

“Hi, this is Mandy. I’m Big Tex’s manager. He’s expressed that he wanted you in his next video. This is kind of short notice, but we start filming in a few days if you are available.”

My pulse raced because this would be my first music video. Texas, or Big Tex, as he liked to be called, was an independent rapper who had multiple number one hits over the years. I’d been a fan of his since he started out with mixtapes. He had been doing big things since he started, and it was without the backing of a record label. Being in his video could catapult my career even more.

“Yes!” I had to calm myself down because I shouted way too loud in that lady’s ear.

“I’m sorry. Yes, I’m available.”

It was a good thing I didn’t have any shoots coming up because I would have hated to miss this opportunity. I wasn’t sure if I would have another one.

Mandy laughed before she went on to tell me all the details I needed. We talked for at least fifteen minutes, and before wehung up, she informed me that she would send over a contract. As soon as I hung up the phone, I almost called Boston, but I called my manager instead. I needed her to know what was going on and for her and the lawyer to look over my contract.

Boston and I would talk soon.

It was the day of the video shoot, and my body buzzed with excitement. There were so many people there. Hair, makeup, wardrobe, other girls that would be in the video. It was overwhelming, but exciting nonetheless.

The day after Mandy called, I made sure to get waxed, my nails and toes done, and a facial. I wanted my skin to look as flawless as possible. I didn’t bother with my hair, except washing it, because I knew there would be stylists on set.

Shooting began early in the morning and went on for hours. I had multiple parts in the video, so I basically had to be there the entire day. Energy drinks and snacks here and there kept me on my toes. I knew by the time the day was over, I would be exhausted.

Big Tex and I were in the middle of a scene where I had to lay on top of him in a bed while he rubbed on my butt. He was handsome, but I wasn’t interested in him. My eyes were for Boston Brooks only, but I played Big Tex’s love interest with no problem.

All of a sudden, the air shifted in the room, and when the director yelled cut, I turned around and spotted Boston staring straight at me. My heart thudded against my chest because I hadn’t seen him since I left Vegas. He looked so damn good in apair of slacks and a dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He was dressed like he had just left the office.

The scene we had just completed required me to dress in a cami with pajama shorts that were short as hell. By the look on his face, I wasn’t sure if he was impressed by my acting skills, or if he was mad that I had been lying on top of another man. I really couldn’t tell, and the thought of him being mad made me nervous to approach him.

Deciding to face whatever came my way, I grabbed the robe I was given at the beginning of the shoot, put it on, then walked toward Boston.

Boston smirked when I got close to him, and I couldn’t help myself when I launched myself into his arms.

He chuckled as he caught me and held me against him. I inhaled his scent because I missed it so much.

“Damn, mama. I missed yo’ ass something serious.”

“I missed you too,” I mumbled against his chest. I squeezed him before I leaned back to look into his handsome face. “How did you know I was even here?” Nobody knew about this shoot, except my parents and my friends. As far as I knew it was a closed set.

“I’m always going to know where you are. Plus, I put the bug in his ear the other day when he told me he was having trouble finding a girl for his video.”
