The next morning, Boston and I had breakfast in his suite, then he told me to get dressed. He refused to tell me where we were going, so I was in anticipation since I’d put my clothes on.

“How long is this trip supposed to take? It feels like we’ve been driving forever,” I said to Boston.

The scenery was nice, but it was taking forever to get to wherever we were going.

“That’s why I got us some snacks and stuff. Relax.” He tapped my leg, then kept his hand in that spot.

“I’m relaxed. Just curious. It doesn’t look like anything is around here.”

“Because it’s not.” He chuckled.

I hadn’t been on a road trip in a while, but I enjoyed the fact that it was with Boston. I still wore my wedding band, except when I had my photo shoot. I knew if I kept it on then, people would have questions that I wasn’t ready to answer. I enjoyed the bubble that Boston and I were in. I knew once word got out about us, or what they thought of us, it wouldn’t stop. Everything would be looked at under a microscope, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready for that. I pushed those thoughts out of my mind, to relax as Boston suggested.

“How many kids do you want?” I asked.

“At least two. I love having a brother because he was my in-home playmate. I want my child to experience the same thing.”

“Yeah, it did get lonely sometimes growing up as an only child. I had friends early on, but I would have loved a sister.”

My parents said once they had me, they decided not to have any more kids. Not that I was a bad kid; they just didn’t want any more. Growing up, I didn’t understand it, but as an adult, I did. Kids were expensive as hell. Even when a person had money, kids still cost a lot.

“How about you? Do you have a certain number of kids you want?” Boston asked.

“Two to four would be perfect. Maybe the first two, back-to-back, then the second two, the same. That way, everyone has a partner.”

“That makes sense. That’ll give you a chance to rest between the two sets. Would you still model while pregnant?”

“For sure. As long as there is someone wanting to work with me and I’m healthy, I’m working.”

One of the benefits of being a model was its flexibility. It didn’t matter what happened. As long as I could get out of bed, and there was someone who needed me, I could work. I might slow down at some point, but I didn’t see that happening until I had a family, or when I got older. I could be a senior model too. I wanted to make sure I enjoyed life as well. The shoots I had done paid very well, and I didn’t live above my means, so I had a nice nest egg in multiple accounts. A lot of the companies I modeled for paid for accommodations, so most of the time, the only thing I had to pay for was food, and if I wanted to explore whatever town I was in.

“Love to hear it. I don’t think I would ever retire, but at some point, I do plan on being less hands on. When it’s time for kids, I want to be there for them like my dad was. It’s easy to throw money at them, but I want to be involved in everything. Whether it’s the kindergarten play or the senior prom, I’m going to be there.”

I was glad he said that because I’d heard about how a lot of men with money weren’t really involved in their children’s lives. They thought buying them things was enough, and it wasn’t. Of course, it took money to raise kids, but it was so much more than that.

“That’s good to hear.”

“It sure is. I can’t wait until we have our kids.” He looked my way and winked.

“And you just know this?”

“I do.”

We talked a little more, then I eventually fell asleep. Boston had worn me out the night before, and we were in the car for so long that the night had caught up to me.

I wasn’t sure how much time had passed when I felt Boston slightly shaking me.

Wiping my eyes, I sat up and looked out the window. As soon as I spotted where we were, I screamed. I wasn’t even sure why we were here, but it was exciting either way.

“Boston, what are we doing here?” I asked skeptically as I stared at him.

He leaned over the middle of the seat and kissed the side of my mouth. “I’m showing you that I will make shit happen for you. You want it, I’ll do it. This isn’t about me throwing my money around or trying to poke my chest on some other shit. This is me showing you that you deserve the world, Harvest. And I’ll make shit pop every.” He pecked my lips. “Fucking.” Another peck. “Time.”

“Wait, does this mean I’m doing a photo shoot with America? At the Grand Canyon?”

“That’s exactly what that means.”

Tears streamed down my face right before I tried to launch myself into Boston’s lap. The car was bigger than a lot of cars, but it wasn’t enough room. Boston wrapped his arms around me as best as he could and held me as I cried. It wasn’t just a regular ass cry either. By the time I was finished, my nose was red. I hadjust told Boston my dream shoot, and he made the shit happen the very next day. It wasn’t even the fact that I was sure he had to pull some strings, and maybe even spend some money. It was the fact that he actually listened and paid attention. Some people didn’t realize they were two different things. Boston not only paid attention, but he also got it done for me.
