“What’s wrong?”he answered, his voice thick like he had been sleeping.

“Someone shot Jo,” I bit out, putting more pressure as I watched in horror as the white towels immediately turned red from the blood.

She was losing way too much blood. If I couldn’t get it to stop soon, she would be dead—if she wasn’t already. She had lost consciousness, and despite my best efforts, I hadn’t been able to get her to wake up.

“Fuck!”he growled.“Is she okay?”

“She won’t wake up,” I said, a sob escaping my throat.“There’s so much blood.I don’t know what to do.”

“I’m on my way.I’ll get Dr.Foster and bring her with me.I’ll call you back as soon as she’s with me so she can walk you through what to do.”

“Okay.”I hung up and tossed my phone to the floor while I pressed down harder, praying I could get the bleeding to stop.

“Press harder,” I said, my voice a little shaky as I watched Dom.“You have to put enough pressure to stop the bleeding.”

“Fuck,” he whispered, his eyes darting to my face.“You scared the shit out of me, baby.”

“I’m sorry.I wasn’t planning on getting shot.”

He swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he pressed his lips together.

“I’ll be okay,” I assured him as he pressed down harder like I asked him to.

“The towels keep getting soaked with blood.I don’t know if we have more.”

He started to remove them, but I reached up and stopped him.

“Don’t.If you take them off, you risk opening the wound again. You need to keep packing the wound and maintaining pressure to get the bleeding to stop.”

He nodded, returning his focus to pressing down on my shoulder.

Given that I was still alive, the bullet must not have hit anything vital, but the amount of bleeding was concerning.
