Sitting up, I put my back against the headboard and tug Mila into my lap. The blankets rest at her waist behind her as her pussy sits over my quickly hardening cock. Not yet, I chastise my dick. “I’m not joking.” She cradles her left hand in her right, staring at the stone. “It’s a moissanite and meteorite ring. There’s a piece of Gibeon around the band, and the stone is moissanite.”
“I don’t know what that means.” She hasn’t looked away from her hand the entire time.
Taking her small hand in mine, I run my finger around the band and point out the grayish color. “This is a piece of Gibeon meteorite.” Then tapping the top of the jewel, I continue, “This is a moissanite square-cut stone. It’s not exactly like a diamond, but it’s just as sturdy. Gibeon meteorites survived going through space and Earth’s atmosphere just to land on the planet somewhere to be found. They’re made to last, like us.” Letting out a breath, I finish, “The rest of the band is white gold.”
She’s silent for a moment, then she sniffles. Her watery eyes meet mine, and she brushes away a tear.
“Hey, what’s wrong? If you don’t like it, I can get something different.”
Clutching her hand against her chest, Mila glares at me. “Don’t you dare, Kash. You bought me a ring with a piece of rock that fell from thesky. I love it. I loveyou.”
Mila stares at me for a moment, then scoots closer, tugging the blankets around her waist. Cupping my face in both her hands, she leans in and softly kisses me on the lips. I grab her hips, needing her closer to me. I’m about to flip her around when her voice stops me.
“Marry me.”
“What?” My brain isn’t fully catching on to what she’s saying.
“If you could marry me today, would you?”
Trying not to let my excitement show, I shoot her a look. “That’s like asking if I could have sex with you today, would I?”
“So, can we?” She eyes me with a hopeful expression.
When doing research about all the places I could take Mila, there was one interesting fact about the great state of North Carolina that stood out. Not only do they have some of the most beautiful beaches, but there is no waiting period between getting a marriage license and getting married.
You can do it all on the same day. It just so happens that I have all of our papers, for safety reasons of course.
Smiling at my girl, I thank God it’s only seven thirty in the morning. If we play this right, we can be married by dinner. Crashing my lips to hers, I kiss Mila until I have to pull back to breathe. She has no idea that I was hoping for this very thing. That I had planned for this very outcome. The ring came in a couple of weeks ago, and what better time than the present.
I thought I was going to have to wait for her to plan something with her mom and sister, but this is a million times better. A small part of me hesitates because her family won’t be there, but the devil on my shoulder has already smothered that guy. It’ll be just the two of us.
“Tell me what you want,Wife.”
Chapter Sixty
Mila
I’m getting married in twenty minutes. It sounds weird, but it feels so right to me. We don’t have our friends and family around us, but I almost like that better. It’s just the two of us. After all the planning and work that went into Cora’s wedding, I realized I didn’t want to be the center of attention like that. I just want to be with the man I love and have our own day.
Kash claims he has our personal papers with him because he wasn’t sure what information the hospital needed. I choose to believe him, even though I have no idea how he found mine at my old apartment. Oh, that’s another thing. My apartment. I’ll have to find someone to rent it out or use it for storage because there’s no way I’m sleeping without my husband.
Straightening out my dress I found this morning, I smile. There’s a small boutique down from our beach rental, and they maintain a small selection year-round. Apparently, we aren’t the first couple to get married on a whim in North Carolina.
Kash left me to get ready, and then we’re heading out to the beach. He found someone local who is ordained and can legally marry us. We were at the county clerk’s office as soon as they opened to get our license. As soon as they handed it over, Kash told me we didn’t have to rush. We could wait until things calmed down, but I refused.
I still think about the younger version of Kash from the photo of him and his dad, and I wish someone would have chosen him then. He’s shown me nothing but unwavering love and affection; there’s no way I want to share our special moment with anyone else or delay it.
Thinking about our future gives me pause, but only because Kash doesn’t know he’s going to be a father yet. I almost told him the firstnight we were here, but then we got distracted, and this morning we were busy. And now here I am, minutes away from being married, and I’m panicking.
A part of me feels like I’m being dishonest by not telling him straight away. I don’t want him to think I trapped him into a marriage without knowing everything first. I hear the door open and close, then Kash’s voice.
“Sunshine, are you ready, baby?” Coming into the bedroom, Kash finds me sitting on the edge of the bed. His happy face morphs to concern when he sees the sad expression on my face.
“Hey, what’s wrong? Did you change your mind? It’s okay if you did.”
“No.” I shake my head. I won’t be changing my mind, but he might. “Kash, I have to tell you something before we get married.”
He’s already changed clothes and styled his hair. There’s just enough on top for him to pull it into a small knot; the sides are freshly shaved, constellations on display. Navy pants hug his thighs, and the sleeves of his white shirt are rolled back allowing the tattoos he let me color in not too long ago peek out. Smiling at the memory, I meet his gaze as he kneels on the floor in front of me.
