“It’s your problem. My family is suffering because of you!”
What the hell did I do?“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve never even met you!”
“Are you sure about that?” He crouches down, tilting his head to the side. His dark eyes bore into me. “Your boyfriend sure as hell knows. He fucked my sister and then left her high and dry. Suddenly, you show up and he’s all ready for commitment.” He scoffs. “I came into your shop one day, but I bet you don’t remember that, do you? Of course not. Pretty little Mila, always ready for more attention, never caring about who’s around you. I guess I just wasn’t the kind of guy you wanted.”
I vaguely remember the day he’s referencing but, even then, I was absorbed in Kash and probably just trying to be polite. “Poor baby. Butt hurt because you hit on me, and I don’t remember you. Grow up,”I spit out.“As for your sister, I don’t even know who she—” I stop when it dawns on me.Oh my God.“You’re that psycho Bri’s brother?”
His expression turns ugly. “Don’t talk about her that way. Me and Bri, we’re a team. Our parents never paid any attention to us; it was always us together against everyone else. I told her not to bother with that trash. I mean, who draws on people for a living and calls it a career? Pathetic.” He sneers.
Oh, fuck this guy. “So, it’s okay that she smashed up his shop while having a tantrum? Yeah.” I snort. “She’s a real fucking gem too. Kash sure missed out on that one.”
Reaching out, he backhands me. My head goes flying to the side.Fuck, that hurt. What kind of asshole hits a woman? I guess I can’t betoo surprised considering he kidnapped and drugged me and all. It’s no wonder I rejected him before.Jerk.
“You’ve got quite the smart mouth. Maybe I should put something in it to shut you up.”
Leveling him with a nasty look, I ignore the throb in my head and meet his stare dead-on. “I swear to God, if you put any part of your body in or near me, I will rip it the fuck off. If my boyfriend doesn’t get to you first.”
He throws his head back with a laugh. “Kash? That big oaf? I’m not worried about him. It's just us here. We have time for some fun before Bri arrives. She’s excited to meet you.” Leaning back, he undoes the buckle on his belt and unzips his pants.
“If you put your pencil dick anywhere near me, I swear it’s going to be your funeral.” I scream and struggle against his weight. If he’s going to hurt me, I’m going to hurt him right back.
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Mila.” He smiles darkly.
“I’ll fucking keep them instead,” Kash’s angry voice sounds behind me.
Chapter Fifty-Five
Kash
When Seth and I got closer, I pull around to a large building a short distance from where Mila’s phone signal was pinging from. I didn’t want to chance being seen, and I’m glad that I did.
No sooner do I park and turn the engine off then a scream cuts through the night. Rage fills me when I realize it’s coming from the cabin.Mila. Someone is hurting my Sunshine.
Whoever it is, I’m going to kill them. As slowly and painfully as I can muster. I’m going to break every single finger they used to touch my girl, and then I’m going to take their eyes out.
Seth turns to me, his face full of concern. I’m almost out of the car when he stops me. “Hold on. Here.” He hands me one of the bats he grabbed from his car. I have no idea why everyone seems to carry these around anymore, but I’m pretty sure each of us has one. Now it’s starting to make sense.
“Why the fuck is there a sock on it?”
Rolling his eyes, Seth gives me an exasperated look. “I saw a video once about it. If you have an intruder and they try to grab the bat away, they get the sock and you still have your bat.”
That’s brilliant. I can use it to wipe the blood off my hands later. “I love you, man.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
Rushing toward the cabin, bat in hand, I pray I get to her in time. I pray she’s not hurt, and that I don’t lose her.I can’t lose her. I yell for Seth to call the police as I move toward the windows. I don’t see anything at first, but then I hear a scuffle coming from inside. Moving toward a side door, I test to see if it’s unlocked. If it isn’t, I’ll just kick it down, but it seems luck is on my side. It’s open.
Quietly opening the door, I step through, bat gripped tightly in my hand. I hear voices coming from the next room, so I make my way toward there. I know Seth is outside, and the police are on their way. If there’s anyone else here, he’s got my back.
Walking into the room, I find a dark-haired man straddling Mila’s body. His legs are on either side of her small waist, and I see red. He just signed his death warrant. He’s spewing bullshit, but I don’t hear any of it because he just undid his belt buckle and is going for his pants.
Hell fucking no.
“If you put your pencil dick anywhere near me, I swear it’s going to be your funeral,” Mila threatens. Her hands are tied in front of her, thrashing at him while she glares. That’s my girl.
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”This fucking creep is a dead man.
Walking up behind them, I lift the bat and get ready to split his skull open. I don’t want my girl covered in his blood, so I need to be careful where I hit him. I’ll bash his skull in when he’s not on top of her. Stepping closer, I see her struggling under him and my mind goes blank. A blanket of white noise washes over me, and I let my instincts guide me.
