“Alexander Hart,” a low voice says as we step outside. Lex shoves me behind him, and another man steps in front of Lex as if to protect him.

“You must be mistaken,” the newcomer practically growls.

“Nope, I’ve seen him fight before. That fancy suit can’t hide the beast he truly is.”

“What do you want?” Lex asks, and his voice is like pure ice water.

“Boss was just curious.” He shrugs, gets into a car with a few other guys, and drives away.

Both Lex and this big guy who Lex clearly knows relax a little, but they’re still on edge.

“Who was that?” I ask, but I’m ignored.

“That was bold,” the newcomer grumbles as the fancy car Lex is always in screeches to a stop in front of us.

Lex looks around warily and leads me to his car.

“My car,” I say.

“I’ll send Tag back for it later, but right now, I’d like you with me.”

Tag?

Who’s Tag?

“What’s going on?” I ask when Lex all but shoves me into the car. He looks around and then climbs in next to me while the guy I’m guessing is Tag takes the passenger seat.

“Nothing, baby.” He buckles me in and pulls me close. His body is tense, and his head keeps darting around, but it feels nice and I’m so full, so I relax into his warm chest.

Maybe I should move away cause he’s straight, and I’m the one who’s going to get hurt. But god, he smells so good. Like sweet cream or warm milk. I nuzzle further into him, looking for more of his scent. One of his strong hands cards through the hair at my nape, and he slowly relaxes, like holding me is helping him feel better.

“Your haircut looks nice.”

“You noticed?”

“Of course.”

“Most guys don’t. They’re too interested in how my ass looks.” He growls, and I chuckle. “Well, I do have a nice ass.”

“It does fill out your jeans nicely.” I laugh at how clinical he sounds. “What?” He teases. “I’ve never complimented a man’s ass before.”

“We’ll work on it.”

We’re quiet for a few minutes just watching as the city flies by the window.

“Sir. We have a tail,” Bill says.

A tail?

“Fuck. Are you sure?”

“Three cars back,” Tag confirms.

“Wait, we’re being followed!” I squeak when I figure out WTF they were talking about. “What’s going on?”

“Since the restaurant,” Bill adds.

There’s a loud pop, and the window splinters behind us. I cover my ears and duck down.
