“Yeah. But not everything.” I sigh. “I thought he might not want me because I’m damaged?—”
“Rory,” Vera warns.
“Well, I am.”
“You are not. Either way. Go with that, and if he gets upset, that’s not a good sign for him anyway.”

“Where’s he taking you?”
“The Jade Palace.”
“I’ve never heard of that one.”

I heave a resigned sigh and let her dress me up like a doll.
Lex wasn’t happy when I told him I’d meet him there.

As I pull up to the Jade Palace, Lex is waiting outside, and he looks fucking delicious. He’s got on a suit, which is normal for him, but he’s also wearing a long black peacoat that makes his shoulders look even bigger, and I want to climb him like a tree.

As soon as we get inside, a short plump woman with jet-black hair comes over to us.
