Page 93 of Milk for His Daddy

“Seriously?!”

“And I don’t mean just the milk that comes from my nipples.”

“Yes, I got that.”

“I’m talking about the milk that comes from?—”

“Finish that sentence and I will cut your tongue off.”

He gives me a wicked smile, which is very unlike him, but I like this playful side. Until he finishes his sentence.

“My dick.”

“That’s it.” I pull out the silverware drawer.

“I’m stronger than you,” he threatens, and damn it, he has a point.

“Fine,” I grumble and shut the drawer.

“Seriously, though. That boy looks at you like you hung the moon, and I can see you’ve got it bad, but you need to tell him too. He sounded a little unsure when I overheard him and Izzy talking.”

“I spoil the hell out of him and brought him to meet my family. All of that is huge for me, the queen of the one-night stand.”

“I know that, but he doesn’t. He’s a sweet boy, and he needs the words too.”

“Ugh. Being in a relationship is so much work,” I grump.

“But it’s worth it,” Dad adds knowingly.

“Yeah, it is.” I sigh dramatically, but I’m smiling.

“So tell him.”

“How do I know when it’s the right time?”

“You just do. I told Izzy I loved him while we were lying in the pile of snow.”

My heart melts at the sappy thought. “That’s fricking adorable.”

“Izzy really is.”

“Don’t hurt him,” I say softly. “I know you won’t but still. He’s had it rough.”

“I know. I’m glad his dad went away because none of my threats worked. He knew I couldn’t really beat the crap out of him since I’m a cop.”

I grin. “You want to know why he went away?”

“Nope. Plausible deniability.”

Now I laugh. “I’ll try to be more open with my feelings for Whit.”

“Good idea. Now let’s get those boys away from the kittens so Winter can take care of them. She seems to be getting a little agitated.”

I look over and laugh. She’s standing on Izzy’s arm and pawing at the kitten he’s holding.

“Do you think we can keep our kittens?” Whit asks, and I snap back to the present. “Or do you think Izzy and Joe will want to keep them all?”

“Five cats is a lot, and I don’t think that my dad wants to take care of that many.” We’ve never had a pet before because of my dad’s hours and my mom’s laziness, but I knew I didn’t want to take care of one. I was always too busy, but if it will make my boy happy, we can get a kitten or two. Litter box duty is all his, though.
