“By the little bay over there. I think it’d be a good spot.”

I looked towards what I could see of the bay from here, which was the top of a few boats, trying my best to keep calm while my heart started beating harder.

“Would you like to do that with me, as part of our challenge?” Lily’s innocent question belied the spiciness of what she was suggesting.

Butterflies swept through my stomach. My heart was pounding now. The idea of taking off all our clothes andswimming in the sea under moonlight sounded like such a romantic thing for us to do. I was so in. “Yeah. When?”

“I don’t know, maybe just when the moment takes us?”

“Should we get the whole gang involved?” Instantly, I regretted my suggestion.

Lily looked disappointed for a second before forcing a smile. “Yeah. Of course. Do you think they will?”

I nodded, wishing I hadn’t mentioned everyone else. “They might.”

The sun rose as we finished talking. It was going to be another hot day and as far as I knew, the only plan was to lie by the pool, which sounded more than perfect after this early morning adventure.

Rona

Under the shade of the parasol, I looked past my book to watch Lily swimming laps in the pool. She was doing the breaststroke, almost languidly, but still moving at pace, and I could not take my eyes off her. Thank God I had the book to hide behind.

“Something caught your attention, Rona?” Nell smirked.

I rested the book on my chest, opening up my line of sight, grateful for my sunglasses to hide from Nell. It was so hot this afternoon, I didn’t know how the other girls were coping in direct sunlight, factor fifty sunscreen or not.

Nell was on a sun lounger next to me with a knowing look on her face.

“No,” I said, unconvincingly.

She shook her head and went back to her photography magazine, still smirking. No doubt she would have more to say on the topic later.

I picked up my book again, but I couldn’t focus on it. I kept thinking about Lily and our sunrise hike this morning, stealing peeks at her out of the corner of my eye. Her sun lounger was right next to mine. I hadn’t quite gotten over her bikini walk to the pool, and later, the way she’d stretched out her toned arms as she floated on her back. Unsurprisingly, the poster girl for women’s football was a total hottie up close.

Lily was all so new and fascinating to me. There was no other way to describe it than the fact that being around Lilyput me into a permanent state of high-interest and distinct sexual arousal.

Everyone else was chilling on their towels, reading or on their phone.

Lily was now out of the pool and walking directly towards me, with drops of water rushing down her skin.

I did not know where else to look, so I think I stared at her the whole time.

Nell chuckled and I made a mental note to tell her off later.

Lily joined me under the parasol’s shade and sat down, straddling her sun lounger like a boss. Why did she have to straddle it?

I gulped, finding her so attractive that I could do nothing but sit here and absorb her presence, and her body.

“Good swim, Lily?” Nell asked.

“Amazing. It feels good to move. I have a hard time staying in one place for too long.”

“I get that. You’re a professional athlete.”

“Was,” Lily said. “Now I’m just restless and relatively useless.” She laughed, gently, while kicking off her sliders and putting on her sunglasses. “I’ll try to chill out.” She lay back on her lounger, full athlete’s body on display, and clasped her hands around her head.

I tried hard not to picture her naked again and failed. I knew she was part of our friend group and all, but this woman could do things to me if she so wanted.
