She was shaking, moans turning into desperate sobs of pleasure as I spanked her, then gripped her hips and fucked her harder. “Now—come around me. Let me hear you scream my name.”

Kira shattered with a loud, broken cry, her pussy clamping down around me in powerful, rhythmic spasms. Her whole body convulsed, back bowing, and she screamed, trembling violently through the orgasm.

The tight, pulsing grip of her walls finally pushed me over the edge. With a guttural groan I slammed into her and came hard, flooding her with hot spurts of cum as pleasure ripped through me. I kept grinding into her, riding out every pulse until we were both spent and shaking.

Then I collapsed over her back, breathing hard, pressing lazy kisses along her spine while my cock stayed buried inside her, twitching with the last aftershocks. When I pulled out, she mewled softly, then turned into my chest as I curled around her.

We lay there catching our breath, and my hand drifted down to rest possessively over her belly where life was growing. It made my chest twist as I thought of how long I'd waited to become a father and what changes it meant for my whole world. But I couldn’t wait.

“I’d love to fill our house with babies,” I murmured against her hair. I was still panting lightly as I continued. “As many as you’ll let me give you. Little ones running around, driving us both crazy. I want that life with you.”

Kira craned her neck to look up at me, then reached up, tracing her fingers along my jaw, raking through my stubble. “I love you, Niko,” she whispered. “I am sorry I didn’t tell you about the baby sooner. I was scared… I didn’t know if I could trust you.”

I cupped her face gently, brushing my thumb across her cheek to catch the single tear that slipped free. “Hey. You never have to be sorry for that. I know I didn’t exactly make it easy for you to trust me in the beginning.” I leaned in and kissed her forehead, then her lips. “But listen to me, Kira. You never have to think about fearing your father again. He’s done. He’s out of our lives for good. You’ve never been safer than you are right now, right here with me. I’ll burn the whole world down before I let anyone touch you or our child.”

She shuddered and pressed closer, burying her face in my neck. “I believe you,” she whispered. “I do. It just feels… big. All of this.”

“It is big,” I agreed, tightening my arms around her. “But it’s ours. And I’m not going anywhere.”

We stayed tangled like that as exhaustion from the long night finally caught up, but I didn’t want to sleep yet.

I wanted her soft breathing against my skin, the quiet peace after everything we’d been through. And I wanted to feel like this every night for the rest of my life.

Then the sharp ring of my phone cut through the silence. I groaned, reaching for it on the nightstand without letting her go. Kira lifted her head, curious. “Who is it?”

“Yakov,” I muttered, answering. “What is it?” I was sure he probably winced at how grumpy I sounded, but I was almost ready to nod off when the phone rang.

Yakov’s voice came through crystal clear. “Good news, Boss. As of fifteen minutes ago, Markin’s men are gone from Dragonov territory. They pulled out completely. We watched them limp away—only a handful left. There are enough of them for him to scrape something together elsewhere, but they’re retreating. They’re not coming back here anytime soon.”

When the relief washed over me, my body relaxed, and Kira propped herself up on an elbow, like she could hear what Yakov was saying.

“They’re really gone?” I asked, needing to hear it again.

“Gone,” Yakov confirmed. “We’ve got eyes on the streets, Nik. The streets are quiet for the first time in weeks. Thought you’d want to know right away.”

A tired smile tugged at my mouth. “Yeah. I did. Good work. Tell the men to stand down and get some rest. We’ll handle the rest in the morning.”

I hung up and tossed the phone aside, pulling Kira tighter against me. “It’s over, Princess. Your father is pulling back. His men are limping out of our territory. We won tonight.”

Kira’s face lit up with cautious hope as she searched my eyes. “Really?”

“Really.” I brushed her hair back from her face and kissed her softly. “We can breathe now. At least for a little while.”

She smiled, the kind of real smile that made my chest ache, and curled into me like she finally believed it. For the first time in months, the weight on my chest felt lighter.

Things were getting back on track, and I was ready for life to start over.

EPILOGUE

Kira

I was going to kill him.

Not figuratively in the cute way women say about their partners when they leave the toilet seat up or forget to grab milk on the way home.

I meant I was going to wrap my hands around Nikolai Dragonov's throat and squeeze until his eyes popped out of his skull, and then I was going to bury him in the backyard of the house he rebuilt after his last one burned down, and nobody would ever find the body because I'd plant hydrangeas over it.

"You're doing great, baby," he said from somewhere to my left, and I wanted to rip his arm off.
