THE BABYSITTERS

Carrera

Carrera wanted to put his fist through a goddamn wall. He couldn’t believe what he’d just seen. Slash had just brought down the fucking house with her sexy dance moves. And when she started shaking her tits, he thought he’d lose his ever-lovin’-mind.

When he’d agreed to keep an eye on her, he never imagined it would lead to The Blue Suit Club.

It was bad enough he was there. Strip clubs weren’t his thing. He was more of a hands-on man. Watching felt skeezy. From the looks of the packed room, he was in the minority.

Between his undercover work, his hits with Luciano, and his cruise line business, he had zero time for dating. Didn’t mean he didn’t want to, but when the hell was that gonna happen?

Being back home gave him a better shot, but as he watched Slash on stage, he admitted the truth. He wantedher. That had never changed from the moment he’d set eyes on her.

But her truth had changed him. So he’d let her go and he moved on.

Only he hadn’t moved on, not really. His feelings of love had turned to anger, then a sense of loss and betrayal had settled into his bones.

After Slash’s set ended, he went outside and waited in his truck. Fifteen minutes later, she dragged some guy outside at knife point, and he laughed out loud.

Badass.

While he was confident she was there for work, he knew ALPHA didn’t do undercover gigs.

She could be on loan to the Bureau.

As he ran through the people who would know, Slash retreated back inside. Not long after, she reemerged, got in her truck, and drove away.

Following from a safe distance, he trailed her home. After pulling into her garage, she sauntered out, stood in the middle of her driveway, and flipped him off.

Though he’d stopped several houses up the street, it was impossible to pull one over on her. All he could do was chuff out a laugh before he continued on home.

G-ma, I love you, but I gotta cut her loose. Amanda May can take care of herself.

THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON,he parked his truck in Rebel and Brit’s long driveway, pulled his duffle from the back seat, and headed toward the front door. He rang the doorbell. A long minute later, the door swung open.

Adrenaline spiked through him as he took in the scene.

Slash—looking phenomenal in a tank top, shorts, and barefoot—stood there with a crying Willow in her arms and a crying Clark sitting on the floor a few feet away.

Her expression fell. “I’m kinda busy. Go away.” She started to close the door, but he grabbed the doorframe and stepped inside.

Willow stopped crying and reached out for him.

“Even worse, she likes you,” Slash grumbled.

“I can take her.” Carrera held out his arms and the baby leaned toward him.

“Hold her while I change Clark.” He loved the bite in her tone. Didn’t matter what she said. Being around him frustrated the hell out of her.

Join the damn club.

When he took the baby, his hand brushed against her breast.

“Seriously, you had to do that?” she bit out. “That peep show you got last night wasn’t enough?”

He smiled at Willow. “Why don’t you tell Auntie—what do they call you?”
