Pictures of all seven women were plastered on the screen.

“Yes!” Slash said. “That’s great.”

“According to the undercover agent handling the case, the general managerinsistedthat all seven simply ghosted on their jobs,” Alexandra continued. “Rather than accept that answer, the agent has made finding these women a top priority. In a twist, the general manager, Karen Woodside—a former law enforcement officer—was arrested for running a prostitution ring out of the back room.”

“I hope this blows our case wide open,” Slash interjected.

“Family and friends are anxious for the safe return of all seven women,” Alexandra continued. “If you’ve seen any of these women, please contact the FBI or local law enforcement in your area.”

The anchor turned to Alexandra. “This is an important story that the public needs to know about, and you’ve got more to share.”

“I do,” Alexandra said. “I’ve spoken to several dancers at Blue Suit who talk about a man named Greg. He’s White, between thirty and forty with brown hair, and a beard and mustache. He appears shy when speaking with the women and he claims to work for the CIA. He offers the dancers five-hundred-dollar tips for private conversations. The FBI is eager to speak with him.”

“Fifteen hundred people go missing every day,” said the news anchor. “I’m glad you’re shedding light on this important topic.” She paused. “We’ll be right back.”

Carrera muted the TV as Elsa hugged Slash.

“I’m so proud of you, I can’t stand it,” Elsa said.

Slash laughed. “I had a partner, Elsa. Don’t forget about him.”

Elsa hugged Carrera. “Excellent work, both of you. I hope this story makes a difference. Do you have a picture of this Greg man?”

“No,” Slash said. “Unfortunately, not.”

“Congratulations, babe,” Carrera said before kissing her. “I’m headed to work.”

“Same,” Slash replied. “Elsa, what are you doing today?”

“I’m having a pool party,” Elsa replied.

“For real?” Carrera asked.

“Yes, I’ve invited my friends for lunch, and we’re going swimming.”

Carrera smiled. “Have fun.”

He and Slash left through the garage.

“Let’s go riding this Saturday,” Carrera said. “We’ll get up early, get out of the city.”

“I love that.” She kissed him goodbye. “I’m at ALPHA all day. Stryker’s attempting to hack into Blue Suit’s surveillance system. I’m hoping we can find a video with Greg in it.”

One more kiss before they each drove away.

As Carrera headed to work, Liv Savage called.

“Hey, Liv, how are things going?” Carrera asked.

“As my new boss, I wanted to touch base with you. You know I’m a watcher, right?”

“I do.”

“I’m requesting the week off. I know it’s short notice?—”

“I understand.”

“Jericho and I are spending the week with the kids. Liam has been so good about sharing. I’m so proud of him.”
