He kissed her shoulder, letting his lips linger on her heated skin. Then, he knelt and washed her thighs and calves. Touching her soothed his savage soul and reminded him how lucky he was that she loved him back.

One more kiss before he washed her hair, making sure to keep the soap away from her eyes.

“Will you always take care of me like this?”

“Always.”

“Nothing is forever,” she murmured.

He massaged her head and her eyes fluttered closed. As he stared at her face, he did know. Not because she was beautiful or because she was strong and smart, independent and brave, but because he’d lived without her and he knew he would never do that again.

“We are,” he said.

She opened her eyes.

“We are forever,” he said. “I feel it in my gut and in my heart. This second chance means everything to me. Why would I fuck this up? Even I’m not that stupid.”

He delighted in making her laugh. For a man who lived to avenge his sister, a man who straddled the line of good and evil, Slash was his sanctuary.

The place where his heart and his soul had found a home.

“I love you,” she said as she placed her head under the water, rinsing away the shampoo.

Hearing her tell him that would never get old.

She ran conditioner through her hair, then collected the soap to wash him. Soft hands traversed his body, her touch both soothing and titillating.

Within seconds, his erection was back. As she cleaned his shaft, a moan ripped from the back of his throat. “I love your touch.”

She kissed him before turning him around and continuing to suds his body. When she finished, she washed his hair before rinsing out her conditioner.

As they dried off, she said, “I’m not on birth control.”

“I’ll use condoms.”

“If we’re an us, I’ll talk to my doc.”

“We’re an us,” he said.

Once dry, he sat on the bench and watched her dry her hair. When they returned to his bedroom, he pulled a condom packet from the box before they crawled into bed.

He pulled her into his arms and he loved her. Gentle kisses and tender touches filled with whispers of love while they moved as one beneath the sheets.

His special girl was now his forever woman.

When they cuddled close, he said, “You were my first love, and you are my last love.”

“I love that.”

“This is it.”

“Thisisit,” she replied while running her soft fingers over his chest.

JUST AFTER SIXthe following morning, as he and Slash were rushing around the kitchen before work, Carrera’s phone rang. It was his sister.

“Hey, Jazz,” he answered.

“Hey, I’ve got Russell on speaker.”
