“Yeah, babe.”

“I’ll go.”

As they made their way down the hallway, Brit said, “Joaquin and I are thinking of having a dinner party this Saturday. Will you come?”

They entered the break room.

“Sure.” Slash pulled a bottle of water from the fridge. “Rebel’s close with Carrera. Will he be there?”

Brit filled a mug with coffee. “What’s up with you? You never care about stuff like that.” Brit sipped the hot drink. “Ah, soooo good.”

Slash opened the bottle, chugged a few mouthfuls. As the chilled water filtered through her, she knew she needed a hit of caffeine to shake the cobwebs from her head.

Slash poured herself a coffee. “Carrera and me in the same room is not a good scene.”

“You work all the time,” Brit said. “Come over early. We’ll go for a run. You love seeing the twins, and they adore you.”

Slash smiled. Brit and Rebel’s babies were the absolute cutest. “Sold, but be warned… if Carrera’s there, it’ll get ugly.”

“Just freeze him out,” Brit said. “Men hate that.”

Slash laughed.

Providence Luck breezed into the break room. She and Cooper Grant ran ALPHA.

“Good morning,” Providence said. “I just sent out an email for a meeting at ten. Are you both here?”

“I am,” Brit replied.

“Depends on the meeting,” Slash replied.

Providence and Brit laughed.

“Small conference room.” Providence filled a mug with coffee. “Don’t be late.”

“She looked right at me when she said that,” Slash said biting back a smile.

“We know you,” Brit said.

“You onlythinkyou know me,” Slash said. “I’m here and it’s barely eight in the morning.”

“She’s got a point,” Providence said.

“What’s the meeting about?” Slash asked.

“An undercover gig,” Providence replied before leaving the room.

“I’ll take the bait,” Slash said as she and Brit followed Providence out. “What else can you tell us?”

“Ten o’clock.” Providence vanished around the corner.

Slash and Brit returned to their office to find Addison working away. The women spent a few minutes catching up, then got busy.

At five minutes ‘til ten, they headed for the conference room. Danielle Fox and Emerson Truman joined them. When they entered the room, a few other Operatives were already seated around the conference table.

“This should be interesting,” Slash said. “Women-only meeting.”

“Maybe it’s an HR issue,” Addison said.
