“I love you, Slash,” he said.

The love that passed between them felt solid. This time it felt different.

Is this it? Is he the one?

“Are we doing this?” Slash asked.

“I hope so,” Elsa said, grinning.

“We’re doing it,” Carrera replied.

As she stared into his eyes, her heart had found its forever. “I love you too.”

He kissed her. She kissed him back.

“This is a very happy day,” Elsa said.

Slash regarded her. “You’re amazing. You lost everything, yet you’re so happy about us.”

“I didn’t lose everything,” Elsa said. “I have my family and I have my health. Those are what matter the most.”

Slash’s eyes grew moist. “You can’t leave us. I would be a wreck without you.”

Elsa swatted her arm. “You’re tough as nails. Strong, independent, and fierce.Yousavedme, not the other way around.”

“We saved each other,” Slash said.

“We’re together again, like we were all those years ago,” Elsa said. “But this time, Carrera Santini, you will do the right thing. Yes?”

“Yes, ma’am,” Carrera replied. “Slash has always been the love of my life, but my anger got in the way.”

“Use that anger to hunt down criminals,” Elsa said.

Slash’s phone rang with a call from Z. “It’s work. I’m gonna take this inside.”

“Hello, Z,” she answered as she made her way into Carrera’s office. Once there, she put the call on speaker.

“Hello, Slash,” Z said. “I heard about the fire. How are you doing?”

“I’m fighting mad. What’s going on?”

“We need to move in for an arrest at the club.”

“Dammit,” she said. “Not yet, Philip.”

“We’ve got confirmation of prostitution. Why hold off?”

“We don’t have the owner,” Slash said. “I’ve got a POI named Greg. If I find him, I’m confident he’ll lead us to the missing women.”

“If we shut down the club, we cripple the owner. No income stream, no women to stalk.”

“I don’t like that,” she pushed back. “He could start plucking women from the general population. How ‘bout we put a little heat on him, and we bring in an investigative reporter to do a story on these women? And we interview women at the club.”

“Hmm, that might work. Flush him out.”

“And when we do, I’ll be there to catch him.”

“I’ll ask Sin to contact Alexandra Wilde to do the interview.”
