“Also, not an option,” Rebel replied. “Someone’s gotta fly us in and out… and you’re the best.”

“I am good, aren’t I?” Hawk joked.

“Donotget him started,” Stryker said.

“I’m gonna pass,” Jericho said. “I love being a sniper too much, plus with the restaurants, and the fam, I’d be spreadin’ myself too thin.”

“Understood,” Rebel replied.

“If you need help with sniper training, I’m your guy,” Jericho added.

“I’m on the fence,” Stryker said. “I’ll get back to you.”

“To start, I’m building my team from ALPHA Ops,” Rebel explained.

“Then, stealing from HRT,” Cooper said, and the group laughed.

“There might be a coupla guys I’d check in with,” Rebel said.

When the meeting ended, the group dispersed.

“You can’t join my team, can you?” Rebel asked Cooper.

“Sorry, brother, I can’t,” Cooper replied. “I love co-running ALPHA and I’d have to give that up.”

In the hangar, Cooper told him to take any of the identical black SUVs in the hangar. Once back at ALPHA, Hawk drove Rebel’s Porsche to his condo, then jumped in Rebel’s SUV back to ALPHA.

“You’re gonna love ALPHA,” Hawk said. “And you’re gonna kick some major ass with BLACK OPS. When does the training start?”

“Thursday or Friday. Group’ll be small, at first. It’s gonna take me a while to build it up to the numbers we’ll need.”

“Which is?”

“At least twenty. Thirty would be better.”

“If you need help with anything lemme know,” Hawk said.

“How’s Brit doing?”

“She’s on her way back to Denver.”

Rebel’s heart fell. “What happened?”

“No idea. Addison texted me.”

“Gotcha.”

Hawk glanced over at Rebel. “Spill it. What’s going on with you two?”

“Not a damn thing,” Rebel replied.

“Well, something’s going on,” Hawk said. “After you left Saturday night, Brit went upstairs. Addison went to talk to her, but she said she was tired. I’m not buying any of this.”

“I got it bad for her, but she’s pissed at me.”

“I hope you work it out.”

“Kinda hard to do if she’s seventeen hundred miles away.”
