“Good meeting ya, ladies,” Carrera said. “Rebel, I’ll be in touch.” He slapped Hawk on the back before he strode out.

“He was in a hurry,” Hawk said.

“He’s got some stuff goin’ on,” Rebel said. “He’s been dealin’ with a bunch of crazies.”

Rebel’s mom and sister waved at Brit.

“Let’s go talk to your family,” Brit said.

Together, she and Rebel made the rounds. After speaking with Rebel’s mom and sister, she talked with Sin andEvangeline, Dakota and Providence, and everyone else on Rebel’s rescue team.

“I’m bummed you’re not training with us,” Slash said, “but freakin’ thrilled you lightened my case load.” She made the heart sign with her fingers. “Big love for Brit.”

They shared a laugh.

After she and Rebel caught up with Prescott and Jacqueline, Stryker and Emerson, and Cooper and Danielle, Rebel spoke quietly with Jericho while Brit talked with her cousin, Liv.

As they were finishing up, Jericho whistled. “Yo, can I get your attention?”

Everyone turned toward him.

With a grin, he said, “Rebel, my brother, the floor is yours.”

Rebel grasped Brit’s hand, escorted her into the middle of the small crowd. Then, he got down on one knee.

A collective gasp filled the room.

She couldn’t take her eyes off him. The love in his eyes melted her heart and made her soul soar.

“Britain, I knew you were my person the minute I saw you. I told myself to go slow, but I couldn’t. Our destiny was always to be together. I will love you with my whole heart for the rest of my life.”

He extracted a ring box from his sport coat pocket and opened it. “Britain Skye, marry me and be my life partner.”

Her gaze jumped from those piercing baby blues to the stunning diamond ring nestled in the black, velvet box.

“Absolutely, one hundred percent, I’ll marry you, Joaquin Dillinger. I love you so much and can’t wait to be your wife.”

He placed the ring on her finger, rose, and held her close. They shared a tender kiss, then several more while the group applauded and cheered.

“You surprised me,” she whispered.

He smiled. “Is that a good thing?”

“Absolutely,” she replied.

They shared another loving kiss before she admired the ring they’d designed. Three eternity bands of diamonds braided together. “It’s beautiful. I love the way it turned out.”

Z made his way over.

“Congratulations,” Z said, giving Brit a kiss. “This is a special day.”

Brit hugged him. “I love you, Daddy.”

“I love you too.” He extended his hand to Rebel. “You’re a good man, Joaquin. Take good care of each other. I’m happy for all three of you.”

Brit flicked her gaze to Rebel.

Z leaned close. “Britain opted to delay joining the rescue teamandshe’s not drinking wine. I’m ruthless, I’m driven, and I pay close attention to detail.”
