Rebel shoved his Glock into his jacket pocket, pulled out the Fat Guy’s gun and shot him in the foot.

“Fuck! Son of a bitch!” Fat Guy howled.

“Twelve years ago, Candyman left town. Why?”

“We brought a new mule in,” Fat Guy said. “Turns out, he was a fucking agent.”

“He ruined our lives,” Tat Guy said. “We were about to do a deal that woulda set us up for life, but that motherfucker got us arrested.”

“Not everyone got arrested,” Fat Guy said. “Whitaker got away. He showed those cops who therealboss was, didn’t he?”

“Yeah, and he popped the agent.” Tat Guy’s laughter sent spikes of rage pounding through Rebel.

“He got away with it too,” Fat Guy added.

Wrath exploded out of Rebel in a menacing growl. “Give me Whitaker’s first name.”

“No fuckin’ way,” Fat Guy said.

“Fuck you, asshole,” Tat Guy rasped.

“Rot in hell,” Rebel growled.

BANG! BANG!

The bullets pierced each man’s forehead between his eyes. They collapsed on the ground.

With gloved fingers, Brit searched Fat Guy’s pockets. “No phone.”

She did the same for Tat Guy, also coming up empty-handed.

Rebel glared at the dead men, their unseeing eyes staring up at nothing.

BANG! BANG!

A bullet to each of their hearts. Blood poured from their chests. He set Fat Guy’s weapon next to him, turned off the flashlight.

In silence, they slunk into the night. No headlights through the sleepy neighborhood, not until they hit the main road.

He always knew that if he found Candyman and his thugs, he’d take them out.

Revenge killing is just that.

Revenge.

There isnomercy in that.

Never did he ever imagine dragging someone he loved into his own private hell. But the damage had been done. And he had no one to blame but himself.

CLARICE SANDERS

Britain

Brit knew her actions could bring dire consequences. If they got arrested and found guilty, they’d go to prison. It was that simple, yet the myriad of emotions rushing through her were anything but.

Truth was, she would have done the exact same thing if someone had murdered her own father. Her stomach ached from the tension coursing through her. She’d made a choice, acted on that, and had to live with herself going forward.
