She couldn’t agree more.

Before climbing into the Jeep, she curled her arm around his biceps, and pulled him close. The crisp nighttime air made her shiver and he threw his arms around her and drew her flush against him.

“I can’t stop myself,” she murmured.

“From what?”

“From you. This shouldn’t be happening. It feels too intimate.”

“Itisintimate. It’s also real and complicated. We’re different in every conceivable way…and we’re family.” He dipped his head and kissed her. “All I know is that I’m happy when I’m with you. I don’t do happy, Savannah. I do miserable, tortured, and obsessed.” He kissed her again. “Those don’t exist when we’re together.”

He kissed her yet again, this time dipping his tongue inside her mouth. Groaning, she buried her fingers in his hair. This man was making her quake in the best way possible.

He slowed the kiss, finishing with tender pecks on her lips. “That should hold us.”

“What am I going to do with you?” she murmured.

Even in the darkness, his eyes shone with mischief. “You’re the creative one. I’m sure you’ll think of something.” He opened the passenger door and she climbed inside.

He leaned in and kissed her once more before walking around and sliding behind the wheel. Then, in the darkened vehicle, he murmured, “I don’t want to hold back with you.”

“My God, you are so honest.”

“I’ll always be honest with you.” He started the engine and headed out of the parking lot. “How can wrong feel this damn right?”

“Maybe it’s not wrong.”

When he placed his hand on her thigh, she interlocked her fingers with his. A few miles passed before she fiddled with her playlist. “Do you like KT Tunstall?”

“I’m not familiar with that artist.”

After Savannah pulled up “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree”, she pulled his hand back onto her lap, caressed his fingers, and gazed into the night sky. Their weekend had been special. Friday felt like a lifetime ago.Hard to believe so much has happened.

Zander had stirred her heart in ways she’d never thought possible. How could someone so committed to big business be the one person she loved being with? His transformation had been thrilling to witness. The constant knot between his brows had cleared. He smiled more. He had stepped out of his comfort zone with a steadiness she admired. When he’d allowed her to switch up his duds, the clothing had changed him. Or maybe her opinion of him had changed when she’d dressed him in something else. Looking back, she wasn’t sure which had happened first.

When he was by her side, anything was possible. Anything at all.

“What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?”

“Thinking about all the things you’ve done for me in the past few days and how you’ve changed my life for the better.”

He squeezed her hand before letting go. “I’ve loved every minute of our weekend. You’re a special woman, Savannah.”

His words made her heart beat faster.

Savannah guarded her feelings, but Zander made her feel safe. She could be herself without fear that he would manipulate her or shame her or lie to her. This was a good man who had gone the extra mile because she needed a helping hand.

He pulled into a shopping center and parked near the grocery store. “I’m running in to grab condoms. If I’ve misread you, now would be the time to stop me.”

Leaning over, she planted a kiss on him. “Get a dozen,” she said and winked.

When Zander returned tothe Jeep, Savannah was on the phone.

“Glad you got the coffee shop back in order,” she said. “I want to update you on a couple of things if you have a minute.”

She set her hand on his thigh and caressed his leg. He started to harden. There was no turning back now. Even if he wanted, he couldn’t keep himself in check. He liked his stepsister…a lot.
