“How’d you get the phones?”

“I know a guy who knows a guy.”

“Bullshit,” Cooper said. “You’re not being straight with me.”

Stryker bit back a smile. “I’m giving these phones to ACPD Captain, Tiana Perry. The Bureau can have them after she hears the truth about how Doug Easton died.”

“Now I know why I haven’t seen you in weeks. You’ve been busy.”

Stryker pulled on disposable gloves and played both Farraday and Barca’s confessions for his friend.

“Thanks for the heads up,” Cooper said.

“Anytime, my brother.”

On his way out, Stryker texted Tiana. “On my way.”

Ten minutes later, he arrived at the park, located in her upscale neighborhood. He was alone. Tiana pulled up and he slipped into her sedan.

“These are for you.” He set the phones on the center console. “Donny Farraday and Jimmy Barca worked for The Trinity crime family, run by Carlo Spinetti. Someone got their videoed confessions. Doug Easton was murdered because he was close to arresting Spinetti.”

“How did you get these?” Tiana asked.

“Friends in low places. ASAC Cooper Grant, with the Bureau, will take these off your hands when you’re done with them.”

“I’ll touch base with him,” she said.

“One more thing. This conversation never happened.” He exited the vehicle.

“Stryker,” Tiana said. “Thank you.”

He returned to the club and found Becky in Mavis’s office. After showing her a video of her speaking to Lyle, she admitted to taking money.

“Do you let non-members in a lot?” he asked.

Becky shrugged. “I’ve done it before.”

“You like workin’ here?” Stryker asked.

“It’s a job,” she said, blowing a bubble.

Stryker slid his gaze to Mavis, then back to Becky. “You can’t do that.”

“Fine, whatever.”

“Unfortunately, we have to let you go,” Mavis said.

“No problem.” Becky stood.

“I’ll walk you out,” Mavis said.

Stryker rode down the elevator with them.

In the parking lot, Mavis lit a cigarette. “You know, Stryker,” she exhaled the smoke, “you’re a real softie, you know that? You couldn’t even fire that gal.”

Stryker chuffed out a laugh. “You think I should become more of a tough guy?”

“Wouldn’t hurt, you know.”
