“Mr. Thompson, would you be genuinely okay if Mrs. Thompson said she didn’t want either of you to have another experience?” He locked eyes with Tim, waiting for an answer.

“Yeah, I was cool either way.” He shifted on the sofa.

“So where do we go from here? Because we have to do one of two things: we come to terms with not having any outside encounters. Or we find a way to navigate it so that your marriage is the main priority throughout them. I can tailor your sessions to fit either scenario. The ball is in your court.”

The last sentence made my thighs clench. That was the same sentence he said minutes before he had me with my knees to my chest, eating my pussy like a starving grizzly bear.

“This may sound strange, Dr. Long. But believe it or not, those exercises that you gave us really helped us decide to move forward last time. Can you give us something like it? Maybe that could help us come to a definite conclusion. Because right now, I’m split.” I admitted.

Just as I asked, the timer rang. He finished scribbling the sentence before he silenced it and looked up.

“Absolutely, Mrs. Thompson. I’ll send you homework tonight; there will be a week's worth of exercises for you all to complete. They’ll be similar to the last but tailored around your current concerns. I’m going to tell Shareese to schedule you all in exactly one week, while the emotions are still raw, and we can discuss them. Be expecting an email, but we’ve reached the end of your session. Have a great day.” He said as he stood and waited for us to do the same. Tim took his arm from around my shoulders, stood, and then guided me to my feet as we shook hands again and walked out of the office.

After I left the room, I finally breathed. While inside, I could barely stand being near him for more than a couple of minutes. The sessions felt fifty-eight minutes too long.

"What you about to get into, baby?" Tim asked, holding me by my waist.

“I think I’m calling it a day. I have an order to pick up from Ulta, and I have to stop by the store to get the easels and paint for tonight.”

“Alright, I’ll see you later, ma.” He leaned down, kissed me, and tapped my butt.

“Call me if you need me.” I got into my car and went to grab the things that we needed for our date night.

We had been devoting one night a week to just us, be it inside or outside. We took turns planning the dates, since it was the middle of the week, I wanted to have a quiet, cute night in the house and do a paint-and-sip.

I stopped at the store for one thing and wound up staying in there for almost two hours ,going from aisle to aisle and filling the cart with more than I had anticipated. I had a rug, some new decor for my home office, pajamas, and even some kitchen gadgets.

Just as I was nearing the house, I got a call from Tim. I knew that he would be calling any minute once I got the notification that he had entered the house.

I answered, “You good, where you at, baby?” He asked without giving me a chance to say hello.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I was actually just about to call you. Can you come out to help me with the things I bought?” I chuckled.

“Yeah,” he said as he disconnected the call.

I pulled into our driveway, shut the engine, and watched him walk toward me. Button down completely open, belt unfastened, no shoes, only socks. I groaned because my husband wasfine. There was no denying that.

“Breeze, why did you go buy all this shit?” He asked, laughing, as I stepped out of the vehicle with the bags that I had placed on the seat.

“You know that you can never just buy one thing from the store,” I admitted, and went inside so that I could start putting the things away, and we could prepare for our night together.

When the last of it was inside, he went upstairs to shower while I put everything away and began setting up. I had already ordered his dinner on the way home. I was still full from lunch with Cass earlier, so I wouldn’t have more than a bite or two.

Once we had both showered and the food arrived, I set the mood for the night. I had Usher playing softly in thebackground, with wine, and we were sitting on the floor in the middle of our family room, on plush blankets with pillows, painting the custom canvases I ordered for tonight. I had him choose his favorite photo of us, and I did the same. He’d paint mine, and I’d paint his.

“Come here, Breeze,” he said lowly as I slowly stroked the green paint on the brush back and forth against the tree from our Christmas photo about ten years ago. I could see why he chose it. I had chosen the first photo that we had ever taken together. I guess we both were reminding each other of where we started many years ago.

Putting the brush into the cup, I crawled over to him and lay across his legs. I looked at the picture of us, half-painted. We were young and unassuming. Somehow, even back then, we always knew that we’d be right here all these years later.

He leaned down and kissed me; it was slow and deep. Honestly, it gave me goosebumps. When we finally broke the kiss, I sighed, looked at the picture again, and sat up.

“I love you,” I smiled as I cupped his chin.

“I love you too, baby,” he said as he kissed my forehead. Just as my phone buzzed.

Grabbing it, I saw that it was Dr. Long. He was working late. It was well past 9 p.m., and I had forgotten that he was supposed to email us the exercises.

“It’s Dr. Long, with the exercises,” I sighed as I opened the message and read the first line.
