So be it.

Consider it my first act as your devoted mate—and my last as a prince acting alone.

But it is you that has to come to me.

Say the words, Dani.

Accept the bond.

And I’ll be here waiting for you.

Through fire, through stars, through every damn obstacle in this galaxy—I will always be here for you.

—Orion

Rye,

Wait, so when I say the words, what will happen? Will you beam me up?

Doesn’t matter.

Okay, I’m saying it now. I’m saying it as I write it.

I, Danika Starbourne, accept you, Orion Thalos, as my fated mate.

Danika,

Your mother and I stopped by the observatory the other day. We wanted to be with our beautiful daughter on her birthday. But it looks like we missed you.

While your mother was poking around in your bedroom, I stayed back near your worktable. That’s when I noticed the stack of letters tucked by the old telescope. I’m sorry for invading your privacy, Starshine, but something about the letters caught my eye. At first it was the seal on the envelopes.

No, I didn’t open it. But I did glance at the writing. I haven’t seen that alphabet in decades. Not since before I came to the observatory.

Dani, could you understand that writing? Could you read it?

Because if you could, then there’s a conversation we need to have. A conversation about where I truly come from.

Call me. Write me. Come home if you can.

We need to talk, Starshine.

Love,

Dad
