“I’ve been with more dirtbags than you.”

“Yeah, you’re pretty attracted to lost causes. Remember Marco?”

I laughed. “Ugh. Marco was a mistake not worth mentioning again.”

“Girl, I saw him at the grocery store a couple of weeks ago. He is busted. I don’t know what you saw in him.”

Shrugging, I said, “It was high school.”

“And college,” she corrected. “With his trifling no-teeth-having ass.”

I snorted as I cracked up, remembering how Duke and Dex blazed me for getting with someone who looked and sounds like he could be Mike Tyson’s twin. “He had a good heart.”

Giggling, she asked, “Could hespellheart?”

Nudging her, I said, “Shut up.”

“Anyway, you’re still fire. You are one of the best people I know. Talented, smart, funny, and gorgeous. You don’t need Dorian or his whack-ass dick.”

I bit down on my lip. There wasn’t much I hadn’t shared with Dallas, but the fact that I’d essentially been celibate right along with Dorian wasn’t something I wanted to tell anyone. The only person who knew was Duke, and that was because I’d slipped up and admitted it to him one day. “I have a confession to make.”

She frowned. “What?”

“Dorian and I haven’t had sex in years.”

Dallas blinked. “Huh?”

“When he gave himself to the Lord, he gave up on fucking me,” I explained.

“Shit,” she mumbled. “For real?”

“I’m so serious.”

“Years?”

I nodded.

My bestie didn’t say anything for a moment, but I could see the wheels turning in her head. “So you let that fool stay in your house, and he wasn’t even giving you the “D”? And you didn’t tell me?”

I stood and paced the room. “I was embarrassed.”

“Giirrrlllll!” Dallas shook her head and let out a deep sigh. “This is crazy as hell. The whole time I’ve been thinking you were having underwhelming sex when you weren’t getting any at all.” She smacked her legs and stood. “Well, I guess you know what you have to do now that you’re essentially free.” She approached me and brushed a finger over my cheek. “It’s time for you to get fucked.”

My mouth fell open. “Dallas!”

“I’m just sayin’.”

I covered my ears and walked into the bathroom to wash my face. “I’m done with this conversation.”

“No. Not really. I distinctly remember you twerking when you found out I was doing Prestonandencouraging me to keep doing it.”

“But you knew Preston for years before you did it. I’m not having sex with a random person, Dallas.” I splashed water on my face and dried it with a towel.

“Maybe he won’t be a stranger.” She gasped. “You should let Bliss hook you up.”

I sliced a hand in the air. “No. I don’t need a matchmaker. I just need a break. I’m going to take this time to focus on myself, figure out where I want to be.”

Dallas tilted her head and studied me. “Okay, I won’t push. But the minute you complain to me about being lonely or horny, I’m going to remind you of this conversation.”
