Aw. My poor niece was blaming herself. Maybe I should put her out of her misery and open my eyes?Yeah, no.
“It’s not your fault, baby girl. It’sherfault for believing your crazy-ass friend. We all knew there was something wrong with her the first time you brought her around.”
It was just like Dallas to point out how stupid I was without even saying the word.I hate her.
“But if it wasn’t for me, she wouldn’t have even talked to her,” Raven said.
“Again, this is on Blake. She knew better. I keep telling her to check that temper.”
“Says the woman who threatens to cut a bitch every chance she gets.”
Thank you, Asa!
“Not a bitch, a muthafucka,” Dallas corrected. “And it’s just an expression. I’m not about that jail life. I just talk a good game.”
“I think I’m getting ready to have this baby.” Bliss groaned, and I was almost tempted to open my eyes to see if she was okay. Almost. “I feel all this pressure in my pelvic area.”
“Shit, why are you talking about your pelvic area?”
Dallas snorted. “Stop acting like you don’t know about women’s pelvic areas, Asa. All those women up in the gym offering you a taste.”
“Ew. That is so nasty, Uncle Asa.”
“Those women aren’t my sister,” my little brother said.
“Did Jace tell you anything else, Dexter?”
“Not much. Just that his guy refused to press charges.”
Thatguyhad haunted my dreams. I’d thought about where Lennox Cole could’ve met me all damn day. So far, I’d ruled out sex, certain I would’ve remembered fucking his fine ass. That left work, a client’s ex, school… I was perplexed. And so curious. Oh, and embarrassed too.
“Did they find Dory?” Dallas asked. I pictured her peering at Dexter with her arms crossed and a stern lawyerly look on her face.
“No,” Dex replied. “Raven, have you seen her?”
“She disappeared, took all her shit out of her dorm room.”
As far as I was concerned, that girl better have left town. Because if I laid eyes on her again, I’d be tempted to lay her out.
“Ooh, you cussed,” Asa teased. “I’m telling your dad.”
Raven giggled. “So. I’m grown.”
“I might need to go to the hospital,” Bliss said. “I’m probably in labor.”
“Let’s wake her up.”
“Fuck that, Dallas,” Duke said with a groan. “And take your ass over there and sit on that ball, Bliss. Practice your breathing. Blake just needs sleep—or a good fuck.”
Or a good fight. I was still pissed about my damn juice. So pissed I wanted to kick him in his shin.
“I’m kind of worried about her,” Dex said. I felt the weight of someone sitting on my mattress. “She didn’t even eat dinner last night.”
“Shit, have you seen her lately? She punched me yesterday morning.”
I heard a soft thump and a whoosh. What the hell are they doing?
“Because you ate all of her food and drank her favorite juice, fool,” Bliss pointed out. “And I’m not bouncing on that damn ball.”
