I want her to see everything I see every single time I look at her.
My arm slips over her shoulder until I cradle her jaw, and I guide her face upward so she can't avoid her reflection.
“Look at us.”
She shifts immediately, a small restless wriggle trying to slip free, but I hold her against me.
“Tell me what you're thinking,” I say, my voice quiet but leaving no room for escape.
She exhales through her nose, a soft puff of frustration and need.
“Willow,” I press, tightening my hold ever so slightly. “Tell me.”
There's a pause.
Then, almost reluctantly, she says. “I look like her.”
Yeah.
I knew it.
And she's so unbelievably wrong.
I run my hand up her thigh and along her side, my touch warm against her skin.
“Do you know what I see?”
“No.”
I lean forward and press a kiss to her cheek.
“I see the woman I love,” I tell her. “The one who somehow walked into my life and stole everything—my heart, my soul… hell, probably my lungs too, because I forget how to breathe when you're around.”
Her shoulders slump a little as she watches.
“You're stubborn.” I run my thumb lightly along her jaw. “Ridiculously stubborn. But you're so kind. You make me laugh even when I’m in a mood or have had a long day, and you're the strongest person I've ever known.”
From her hip, I move up her body till I cup her tit and squeeze.
“Also, you're so damn sexy it's cruel because I can't concentrate when you're around. Honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if we end up with a whole bunch of kids someday, because I want you all the time. Morning, night and every hour in between.”
I shake my head quietly.
I've always wanted more kids, but never got the chance. If she didn't want them, then I would be happy with just her. But I've seen her with Millie and heard what she's like with the other children in the dance classes she helps out at.
She's a natural.
“It's actually a little concerning how much I think about you.”
Then I turn her face away from her reflection so she can look straight at me.
“You are your own person,” I tell her firmly. “Not her. Not anyone else.”
I brush my nose against hers.
“I love you and only you.”
Her eyes roam over me before she stretches up and kisses me.
