NICO

My head is laying on the best pillow in the world as I slowly wake up, eyes blinking as I struggle to come back to the land of living.

I can feel the weight of people’s eyes on me, and I groan as I lift my head.

“What?” I ask, yawning.

“You have a really cute ass,” Verona says, chuckling. “It’s currently hanging out…”

“Vero,” Rosa murmurs, yawning. “Why are you talking about Nico’s ass?”

“You’re both naked, baby. Did you and Nico have fun?” she teases.

Realizing I fell asleep while my knot was inside of her, I groan as I lift my head.

“I suck. Are you sore?” I ask, biting my lip as I keep my eyes on her. I’ve had sex before in front of my brothers, but this feels different. I need to make sure she’s good before anything else.

“It’s a good sore,” Rosa says shyly, blushing furiously.

“Thank god,” Ciro says at the bedroom door. “I was wondering when that would happen. Ow!”

Pablo shrugs as I glance over him. His pillow is missing, and when I check on my brother, I find he’s holding it. Meh, he deserved it.

“Does my ass offend anyone?” I ask, smirking.

Verona blushes as she shakes her head, and I raise my brow, happy she’s coming around to us. Dare I say it, she even likes us.

“I’ve seen it enough, I don’t even think about it anymore,” Dario sighs.

“Good.” Stealing the sheet, I wrap Rosa in it and stand. She squeaks in surprise as I pick her up and start walking toward the bathroom to shower together. My brothers can wait to see her naked.

These things will happen when my wife is ready for it to.

“I’ll start breakfast, Mr. Caveman,” Dario says, amused.

“I want eggs with chorizo,” Pablo says, once it's apparent that Rosa isn’t in heat. Nope, this is just a normal day, nothing to see here. “Can we make that happen?”

“You’re lucky I put it in my delivery order,” Dario chuckles.

Now that Dario and Ciro have moved in with us, they’ve been insistent on cooking on days we aren’t eating with Pack Mayor. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, for drama to pop off between us all, and none of it has happened.

Watching me slowly deteriorate until I couldn’t hide it anymore scared my brothers straight. Fighting against building our pack can’t happen, because we all need each other. Dario and Ciro also know they have to work together for Verona’s trust.

She’s slowly coming around, but she will always be Team Rosa. I’m on board with that. My wife needs someone who can cut through the bullshit and remind us of what’s important.

“I can walk,” Rosa drawls.

“I know that,” I grumble, shutting the door behind me. “I don’t want to put you down.”

“You’re thinking too hard.”

“Yeah, that too,” I admit, setting her on her feet as I turn on the water to the shower. “Have you ever felt like things are going too well?”

“All the time,” she says, dropping the sheet to the ground. “Bad shit is going to happen, Nico. I want to enjoy what we have now. It’s how I survive the tragedies of my life.”

“I hate that your father has conditioned you to think that’s normal,” I sigh, dragging her into the shower. “We have a lot to figure out, and the charity event is coming up. For now, we’ll do it your way.”
