He leaves, closing the bedroom door on his way out. The only light in the windowless room is now courtesy of the attached bath.
The dark is pressing in on me when I notice the smell wafting up from the bed. Rather decades of illicit sexual trysts, it’s of freshly laundered sheets, Wyatt’s aftershave, and his own unique scent. This has me grabbing the spare pillow, wrapping myself tight around it and breathing in.
It’s the next best thing to snuggling the man himself, something I suspect won’t happen again. Disappointment aside, it calms me enough that despite the noise coming from the living room; I sleep deeply for the first time in months.
There’s no way Ralph can get to me with Wyatt around.
I’m not sure how long has passed when I become aware the bedroom door has opened and Wyatt is next to the bed. On listening out, I’m met with quiet from the living room. I must have slept for hours.
“What time is it?”
A quick check of his watch and he says, “Just after seven. Come on, up you get. I’ve sorted out dinner for us.”
“Dinner? But I thought I’d be moving back to the hotel.” I wave toward the living room with its boarded-up sidelight. To me, it makes no sense to stay here when Ralph knows where I am.
Even with my having hid in the kitchenette, he’ll have seen my things. He’ll know this is where I’m staying.
Wyatt’s shoulders drop and I brace myself for the bad news.
“If you move back to the hotel, policy prohibits me from staying with you. The same doesn’t apply here.”
Sleep still clouding my mind; I don’t immediately grasp the import of what he’s said. Only after thoughts of us cohabitating have subsided do I come to my senses.
Had his shoulders dropping like that been a sign of resignation, or surrender, and am I brave enough to find out? As brave as I’d been earlier today when I’d thrown caution to the winds and jumped in the pool in that skimpy underwear?
His response at the time told me he found me attractive, although I’m now second-guessing myself. Had he then come to his senses and vamoosed using that radio call as an excuse to escape?
It’s something that’s been bugging me ever since. Not that I’ve had a lot of time to dwell on it thanks to Ralph breaking in. We’re out in the living room when I decide I need to know.
“Wyatt, when you left here earlier, why was that?”
I don’t need to be a student of body language to see he doesn’t want to answer. This has me torn between wanting to be kept in the dark and hearing the truth.
If he’s only interested in me as a guest of the hotel and nothing more, I need to know. If he’s not attracted to me, I’ve humiliated myself enough already.
With him yet to answer, I prompt him. “Please, Wyatt, I need to know. The not knowing is awful.”
After hearing what he has to say, my heart falters. The good news is that Wyatt hadn’t used the radio summons to escape.
The bad news is that it sounds like Ralph broke into the villa to kidnap me. To say this is an escalation from his earlier pestering is an understatement.
If I hadn’t hidden in the kitchenette and he’d found me…
My legs fail, and as the dark claims me, I sink to the floor.
WYATT
I’m still half asleep the following morning when I notice two things. The first is my cock is hard up against Phoebe’s ass and I’ve got a hand cradling one of her breasts.
I’m confused until I remember her telling me at some stage during the night not to be silly and to get under the covers. And I had, although I’d jammed a couple of pillows between us. Where they are now, who knew?
None of this does anything to soften my morning wood. Rather, the opposite happens. And this when I’d promised to protect, not seduce.
After she’d fainted, I’d simply put her in bed and covered her up. I thought she’d come round, but she’d fallen into a deep sleep. If not for her steady breathing and relaxed features, I’d have called a doctor.
Dinner long-forgotten, I'd lain on top of the covers, more to provide reassurance if she woke, and because she smelled so damn good.
As I slowly take my hand away from her full breast, there’s no missing the tightness of her nipple. There’s also no missing her sigh of disappointment. It’s something I share.
