Beast stepped in front of me.

"No."

The single word stopped me cold.

The driver blinked.

Dad frowned.

"What?"

Beast never took his eyes off the box.

"Set it on the ground."

The driver immediately obeyed.

Years of Army Ranger voice probably carried over.

The man practically dropped it.

Beast crouched beside it.

Examining every inch.

Every seam.

Every corner.

The boys had abandoned their shovels.

Even they looked nervous now.

Finally Beast carefully lifted the box.

Shook it once.

Nothing.

No rattling.

No ticking.

No movement.

Then he carried it to an empty section of the yard.

Far away from the house.

Far away from everyone.

Dad looked impressed.

I looked annoyed.

"Beast."

"No."
