The entire diner watched him back.

I leaned toward Beast.

The answer wasn't reassuring.

Not even a little.

The stranger drank his coffee.

Looked around.

Then stood.

Walked out.

Just like that.

Gone.

The second the door shut, the entire diner erupted.

Questions.

Theories.

Opinions.

Carol was already on the phone.

One rancher headed outside.

Another started his truck.

Apparently to follow him.

The third announced he was calling his cousin.

I had no idea why.
