With everything that her ex had done and his sudden appearance, we were all on edge and wondering if he would strike in the middle of the night. She was ours to protect now and we had to figure out a way to keep her and Phoenix safe.

Corvin emerged from Bea's room and Ezra headed in so she wouldn't be alone. There was no jealousy or rivalry in our movements. We were here for our mate and her safety was all that mattered right now.

"How's she doing?" I asked, holding a mug of coffee out for him.

"She dozed on and off but she insists she wants to try and function today," he grumbled before taking a sip.

"There are cameras at the shop and we need to get some here. Plus, an alarm system," I said.

"I agree. That's a great idea," he said, perking up now that he had a purpose.

"Well, I already have a few picked out but I wanted to get your input on them before I clicked purchase," I said as I held out my phone to show him.

"Just get whatever you think is best, I'm sure it will be perfect," he tried to reassure me as he yawned. The fact he was handing over the reins meant he was beyond exhausted.

"Take a nap. I’ve got this. I'll tell Ezra to wake you when he comes out," I offered.

"Nah, we have to get this place secure and check out the shop as well. I want to get new locks for the entire place, too," he said with another yawn.

"Coffee IV kind of day, huh?" I teased and that got a little smile from him.

"It is that kind of day," he agreed, upending his mug and draining it before heading for the coffee maker to refill it.

"Here's to that," I said and raised my cup, doing the same. It wasn’t hitting yet and I desperately needed it to.

"Can I get one of those?" Bea asked as she stumbled out, her dark hair wild around her pretty face.

"Of course," I said, making her one before offering her the warm mug.

She gave me a sweet smile and accepted it, gulping it down like we had. Her scent was charred today. I hated that. She should be relaxing with us, enjoying a simple morning.

We were so happy yesterday. The game was fun and the mood was light, she was finally letting us in.

All for him to show his fucking face.

Bea raised her cup to her lips before realizing it was empty. "Maybe we should make another pot of coffee?"

"On it, Goddess," I answered and headed to the little machine. We were going to have to purchase a bigger one for the four of us. There was no way that we'd survive too long on this little pot.

"What do you want to do today?" Ezra asked as Corvin sipped the hot brew.

"Shopping? If you three are moving in, there are things we need to buy,” she said, before eyeing the small coffee maker. “Starting with a new coffee pot."

"Perfect. We want to get some cameras and a security system installed here. Do you have the landlords’ number? I want to chat with them about changing locks and installing security," Corvin asked.

"Sure, I have it here somewhere," she assured him, moving over to a stack of papers tucked away in the corner.

After shuffling them around a bit she held up a sticky-note in triumph. "Here it is."

Bea waved it and Corvin snatched it but also pulled her close. Love looked good on the captain and I had to snap a picture to prove that he wasn't such a hard ass all the time.

"Delete that," he growled, never taking his eyes off Bea.

"And sent," I smirked as Bea's phone buzzed. "If you threaten me, I will post it on the socials, too."

"Don't taunt him," Bea smiled, until she opened her phone and groaned. "Please don't post it. Look at my hair."

"I think you look hot," Ezra told her as he cozied up behind her, placing a soft kiss on the back of her neck.
