“Well, yeah. What else would I be referring to?”

Oh man.

“Nothing, but don’t worry about that. Just lie to him. Tell him Derivius gave it to you as his way of thanking you for helping us.”

“Okay, but what if Gladian runs off and asks him or asks why he didn’t get something?”

“I’m not worried about that. Derivius will put him in his place.”

She thinks on that for about a second before shrugging, then checking out her biceps.

Yep. Those two are unfortunately made for each other.

I don’t know where in the fuck the other three fit in.

I throttle those thoughts from my mind and link my arm through Yemi’s as we face our men. They’re bouncing, well, wading through the hot spring to each other, checking out their new power boost.

A sigh of relief pours out of me, and my body slouches into hers.

“You feel better now?”

There are multiple meanings to that.

“Yeah, I do. It was so fucking hard, but…worth it. Worth it for them. Worth it for all of you.”

She hums and rests her head on my shoulder.

“We love you too, Thay.”

My heart.

She has no clue how much that means to me.

My damn fingers are still pruney from the hot spring, although we left there hours ago.

I suppose it was inevitable since we stayed in there for hours, hanging out and letting everyone’s powers truly settle into place.

Thayla and I escorted Mara back to the Court once we finally got out. Thayla didn’t want Gladian grilling Mara, which he attempted to do the moment we showed up.

Of course, my Binder shut that shit down.

She told him we had secretfavoritegod business to attend, and he was welcome for the benefit his Binder got from it. It took everything in me not to die laughing in his face when Mara’s power hit him.

I’m sure she’ll still get questioned, but as long as she tells him what Thayla told her to say, it’ll be fine.

Now, hopefully, she can use this power to fucking bash those pieces of shit Valtrue members’ heads in.

I huff in annoyance at the way the wrinkles on my fingers feel as I run them over Thayla’s soft skin. It pisses me off. It’s rare I get to hold her in my lap alone and now my fucking old man hands are getting in the way.

Her laughter washes away my attitude as she tilts her head back against my shoulder and falls into a fit over Riven’s and Kyzen’s nonsense.

Since we got home, the two of them, plus Amick, have been doing everything they can to test out their power boost.

Riven’s getting annoyed because Kyzen can now move fast enough through time to catch him before his Chaos warps his surroundings. I’m not sure why he’s bitching about it. We’ve always been able to sense him, to an extent.
