She snickers, and the small smile she gives me is real, so I return it with one of my own.

“All of it.”

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with sitting in our doubt sometimes, but promise me something?”

She arches her brow like she wants to hear my request first before giving me her word.

“Promise you won’t sit in it for long. Don’t let the nagging voice in your mind convince you that you’re less than. If those assholes make you feel anything less than the best thing that’s ever happened to them, you put them in their place.”

“You’ve called them fuckers and assholes now. Did one of them piss you off?”

I wipe my face of anything that may give that answer away, then I tsk at her.

“Don’t change the subject.”

“Fine, I promise. Now what happened that has you calling them names? Sevryn I can understand. He’s earned the title of asshole, but your opinion of Doren when you first met him seemed nothing but positive. What happened?”

My gaze traces over any and everything but her or her observant glare. I didn’t plan on blabbing about her Valtrue before she had the opportunity to actually talk to them.

A knock at the door has air rushing from my lungs and a smirk crossing my lips. I spin from her and her squeal, but she latches onto my hand.

“Don’t answer it. What if it’s them?”

“Really, Yemi? It’s not one of them. My men would never allow them to come to my door.”

She exhales and lays her hand to her heart. “You’re right. It’ll be weeks before they’re allowed to come into your house.”

Probably.

It’s no shocker to me at all when I come face-to-face with my entire Valtrue.

“Came to check on us?”

“Yeah, after you left us with that shit show to take care of.” Riven scoffs.

“Damn, did they freak out?”

“Sevryn had a moment, and Creed threatened to knock him out if he came through your back door. The other three, well, two, started arguing about who scared Yemi the most.”

“Doren and Nero?”

“Yep.” All four of them say.

“Is Yemi okay?” Kyzen asks.

“This isn’t my proudest moment.”

I grin as the guys’ eyebrows narrow at her holler, then I take a step back from the door so I can peer over at her.

“You care if they come in?”

“That’s fine. They’ll tell me what I want to know since you attempted to deflect from it.”

The guys push into my room before I can fully move out of the way. I scoff at all of them as Kyzen and Riven make their way to claim a seat on my bed. Amick leans against the mantel of my fireplace, observing Yemi from head to toe.

Creed stomps to my back door as though he’s ready to fulfill his threat against Sevryn. He crosses his arms and blocks the way in.

“Ask what you want, bestie. I love gossiping.”
