“I want to be clear before I teach you this, I’ll always be able to feel you. The way you’ll block the others out won’t be strong enough to stop me completely, and we’ll all be able to tell you’re doing it.”

“Yeah, just like I could tell you and Kyzen did that shit to me.”

Yeah…we did. Probably will again after Hellveilious.

“I busted through whatever it was Kyzen had in place.”

A small laugh breaks free from my pinched lips at how pleased she sounds with herself.

“All of us will be able to do that to you in return, you know?”

“Figured as much, but we’ll treat it as some privacy. If the block is in place, I need it there for a reason.”

I sigh. I don’t like this but whatever. It won’t affect me nearly as much as my brothers.

“Tie a knot in your soul.”

She arches her eyebrows and I hold my snort back. “I’m sorry? Do what?”

“You know exactly what I’m telling you to do. If you can pinpoint our ropes, tug us to you, and purposely send us sensations, you can do this. Grab the strand that stretches toward me and use your little mental fingers to tie a knot in it. That knot will block the flow either way.”

“Okay, but will it hurt?”

I shrug. “Probably after an extended time, but to practice right now, no.”

“Gods, you and your nonchalance about this are annoying. Who talks about tying a knot in a soul like it’s normal?”

“We do, because unfortunately, this is our normal. Not to mention, you asked for this, so get used to it.”

She huffs and puffs as she shakes her hands out as though she’s preparing to actually reach into her chest. Her heavy exhale rings through my ears, and I cross my arms, staring her down. I already know she’ll do it.

She’s just got to wrap her mind around the oddness of it first.

I hold in my very unsatisfied grunt when the flow of all things her slows to a dissatisfying, sluggish pace.

Without letting the disappointment show on my face, I allow it to slink toward her new knot.

“Feel that?”

She releases a deep breath. “Nope.”

“You don’t sound happy about that.”

“It’s a little strange and uncomfortable. I didn’t want to learn this for it to be a permanent thing, though. I just wanted to know how in case there comes a time again that I need to lock it all down. You know, a certain someone promised me—while laid up in the healing villa as a matter of fact—to teach me all kinds of pulls and whatnot with souls but never did.”

“I also know a certain someone who never brought it up again as well.”

She rolls her eyes playfully. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I wanted, still want, to learn on my own. I really appreciate you teaching me when I ask.”

“I’ll keep teaching you whatever you want to know. Within reason.” I narrow my glare on that tempting ass smirk she gives me. “When you’re ready to, all you have to do is untie the knot. It’ll go back to normal.”

The instant, uninterrupted flow of her soul has my shoulders relaxing.

Her smug grin is annoying…ly sexy.

She presses on her toes, trying to lay a measly kiss to my cheek. I turn into her, tugging her as close to me as I can.

“Come on. Amick jumped into full-fledged planning mode the second I left. We should go help ease his worries.”
