“Thank you,” I say softly.
His eyebrows furrow in confusion. “For what?”
A small smile spreads across my lips. “For making V his own space since I can’t.”
“Your appreciation is noted but not necessary, Thayla. I’ll always make up for any shortcomings you have, just as you’ll do for me.”
I hide my chuckle by turning into Kyzen even more. The rumble of his chest vibrates my shoulder and spreads through my body.
“We’re all in agreement that V still needs to be kept a secret amongst our Valtrue. The last thing we need ishimfinding out about this,” Creed says as he crosses his arms over his chest.
His gaze bounces from me to V, either having a private conversation without me or looking for our agreement.
“Agreed, except for Yemi, Lambrit, Rose, and Havar. I planned to go see them in a minute and verbally telling them before making any formal introductions, though.”
“That wouldn’t be wise today. The High Chancellor isn’t lifting the lockdown, and we had a few choice words earlier. It’d be best for us to stay here. You can inform them all tomorrow during your first new schedule change. They’ll be with you.”
“Will they now? You’ve altered all our schedules, Candyman?”
“Yes. They’ll be accompanying us on our journey, so they need to be as prepared as possible. Starting in the morning, training with Creed. I’ve already sentcommunications to each of their houses to tell them to meet you all here in the morning.”
“What?” Creed and I ask at the same time, while sharing very different facial expressions.
His is furious, mine full of concern.
I don’t know how I feel about them joining us. What if this is dangerous? It’s definitely going to be dangerous. We’re looking for a Beginning God’s Binding.
Gods, Lambrit would love it, though. This will make him ecstatic.
Fuck.

It’s been many years since I’ve had to teach someone how to hold a sword.
Even the new Chosen comes to Godsden every year having basic training in battle techniques.
Rose knows fuck all nothing. Due to her being an Attendant and having a domain under the Goddess of Affection, there was never a need for her to have any Defender training.
Yemi picked some things up observing in the Court, but she’s stiff, uncoordinated, and timid like a wounded animal anytime I step near her.
Havar learned a thing or two when he had rotations at the Court. Since he began growing through the Plentiful ranks and had more power released, though, that’s long since dropped from his routine. Nothing he learned stayed with him as it should have.
Except for maybe knowing how to properly grip a sword.
Lambrit utterly confuses me if I’m being honest.
He’s built like a god that works out, but the sounds of disgust that fell from him when we told them we were training made it loud and clear that the only thing he likes to work out is his mind.
I thought, great, he’s going to moan and groan the whole time, but then he got very stern and scolded Thayla when she started to tell her side of the story about the Court and how her power settled.
His tone shocked the shit out of me. I’ve only ever heard him speak calmly, factually, and much like Amick. Every now and then, he’d joke on his morning runs with Thayla, but he usually just grumbled about running.
I waited patiently for her to cuss him out.
That never came.
