“Welcome to the Lost Sea.”

My soul shivers in my chest and my Valtrue crowds closer to me.

“Shit. I didn’t know it looked like this,” Riven whispers.

For days, we’ll be sailing on top of water the color of darkness.

Shit.

“Maybe the rock only looks that small because of the size of the map. I’m sure it’ll be the size of a normal island when we approach it.”

I try to reassure Amick as he glowers down at the map he’s got memorized by now. He probably has the entire love story memorized if we’re being honest.

He ignores me and casts his gaze over at Thayla.

The millionth irritated huff falls from her lips as she paces in front of the bathroom door.

“Riven, stop fucking singing and get out of the shower. Other people still have to wash their asses.”

He, in fact, does not stop singing. He gets louder.

“That’s it. I’m done. I’m about to drown him.”

With a forceful shove, she slings the bathroom door open and marches her way in. I run my hand across my mouth to hold in my laugh as I listen to the two of them argue.

“If you wanted to join, all you had to—hey, put that down right now. Bad little—”

A shriek coming from Riven’s mouth cuts off the remainder of his words, and Amick and I look at each other. Neither of us moves to help him, but I won’t lie and say my concern doesn’t stop escalating as his screaming gets louder.

“You’ve got five more minutes. I’m not kidding. Who the hell takes an hour-long shower?” she shouts as she comes out of the bathroom and slams the door behind her.

I raise a brow at her. “Is he alive?”

“Yes, he’s fine. I sprayed cold water on him from the sink. He’s got the whole bathroom so damn steamy, you can barely see. He better be happy there’s power that keeps the water clean and hot in here.”

She stomps her way to the closet, talking shit the whole time, and Amick’s eyes track her every move.

“She’s growing increasingly frustrated.”

“Well, yeah, what did you expect? She hasn’t been sleeping well. She’s been trapped on a boat for nearly forty hours now. Anytime she leaves the carriage and one of Gladian’s Valtrue members is out there, she comes right back in. Not to mention we’re almost at our destination and she doesn’t know what to expect.”

He makes a small noise, I assume something of an agreement, just as the water in the bathroom cuts off. A few seconds later, Riven emerges looking mad as shit, with his towel wrapped around his hips and hair a dripping mess.

“Where’s the pissy little Binder at?”

“Why?” I snort.

“She stole my clothes.”

“They’re in the hot spring bathtub, asshole.”

She walks past him, flipping him her middle finger as she makes her own way into the bathroom.

“Are one of you going to do something about her?”
