Not that Laurie would keep the news from Joseph for long, but just until after Meadow’s visit. Because while he might know Joseph’s moods and how he didn’t anger easily under usual circumstances, Meadow might think differently and form an opinion that would be difficult to change.

The second head of security, Susanna, spoke up. “If you’re worried about Miss Vale visiting, don’t be, Laurie. We’ve double-checked the perimeter, have extra security inside, and two of the older teenage boys will be keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. She’ll be safe here.”

Laurie forced a smile. “I know, Susanna. You and Frank are the best there is, and had better be, given how much we pay you.”

She rolled her eyes. “Yes, yes, we’re expensive. But weareworth it. After all, since we’ve taken over security there’s never been a serious incident inside Nyx’s Kingdom. Proof is in the pudding.”

After a few more minutes of conversation, he dismissed the pair and tried to concentrate on the upcoming event schedule. Their patrons paid handsomely for their memberships and wanted more than empty rooms to fuck on demand. Costumes, themes, and even consensual auctions for a night of fun were what made their place stand out in London.

Normally, he loved this part of his job. One month could feature Roman centurions and goddesses, another might be a mock court from Henry VIII, or another might have several masquerade balls. And since Laurie was the creative one while Joseph was the numbers and business one, their partnership had worked out well and become extremely profitable.

But now? Laurie lacked the fire to plan a new event. No, instead he kept remembering how he and Joseph had held Meadow between them the night before. Or how he’d carried hersoft, warm body to her bed and how much he’d wanted to stay and hold her.

At least now he and Joseph understood a little better about why she had so little self-confidence, and he wanted to help restore it. Him and Joseph both.

However, that required being around Meadow, and she might not ask for them once she arrived. Not seeking her out would be bloody difficult. He’d do it because they needed to earn her trust, but it’d be one of the hardest things he’d done in a while.

I now better understand Leo’s instinct around Yesenia, back in the early days, right after she blooded him. It’d been fun to tease his older brother at the time. And no doubt Leo would start doing the same to him.

Just as Laurie tried to focus on his next big ball, someone knocked. After bidding them to enter, one of the runners used to convey messages between the staff entered and shut the door. Laurie waved for him to speak, and the male said, “Miss Vale is here and asked for you and Mr. Hope.”

“Thanks, Jimmy. I’ll find Joseph and we’ll meet her. Where is she?”

“The hidden viewing room off the large voyeur room.”

Ah, so she’d decided to peek from behind a wall. He’d suspected she would, and that could work in his and Joseph’s favor. “Thank you. You may return to your post.”

The younger male dashed off, and Laurie straightened his tie and shirtsleeves before brushing back his hair. A quick check in the mirror showed he was put together, and he went off to find Joseph, smiling the entire way.

Meadow had asked for them. And maybe, just maybe, she’d ask them to help her find her release, too. Because the regular foursome tonight never held back, and no doubt, she’d be desperate by the end of their playtime.

Meadow readjustedher mask for the tenth time as she waited inside a small room containing only a few chairs and a side table with refreshments. Well, and a wall with various closed slits in it.

When she’d first knocked on the main door, she’d been nervous. But rather than the two male and two female guards intimidating her, they’d surprised her by being nice yet firm. Not to mention one of the females had even given Meadow a once-over, winking at the end before saying, “Too bad you blooded the bosses, Miss. We could’ve had some fun.”

Meadow’s cheeks had heated as the guards teased the one who’d spoken and told her to behave.

It wasn’t as if she were wearing a super revealing dress or anything. It was all black, with long sleeves and a tight-fitting bodice that flared and billowed out from just under her breasts. However, it didn’t go all the way to the floor, like most of the skirts and dresses she’d seen on everyday people; it stopped just above her knees. Along with the dress, Laurie and Joseph’s package had included a diamond tiara and knee-high black boots. Not with heels, thankfully, and wearing them made her feel a little badass.

And almost pretty, too.

A knock made her jump—she really needed to stop doing that since she’d known people were coming—and she cleared her throat before saying, “Enter.”

Joseph entered first but stopped as soon as his eyes met hers. Then he looked down her body, slowly, and back up. His eyes were heated, and Meadow nearly licked her lips.

“Move, Joseph.”

Laurie entered and shut the door. As his eyes met hers, his smile died and his jaw dropped before his gaze took her in, pausing at her breasts, and finally met her eyes again. “You look bloody amazing, Meadow. I knew our usual place would do a good job, but damn.”

Her cheeks flushed, and she glanced between Joseph and Laurie. Only when her hand went to her training bracelet did she finally smile at them. Their reactions weren’t because of her magic. And yes, they could be acting. But she’d looked discreetly at their crotches when they’d checked her out, and both were aroused.

Was it solely because of her? Or from something they’d been doing just before coming here?

Before she could doubt herself yet again, they both walked over and each took a hand before kissing one of her cheeks. Joseph was the first to speak. “You look beautiful, Meadow. Do you like the dress? Laurie is better at fashion than me, and helped design this outfit.”

They’d both stepped back and released her hands, sadly. But she managed to keep from fidgeting and replied, “I love it. I wasn’t sure at first, as I don’t like to show my legs. But it’s just so pretty and goes really well with the boots.”

Laurie grinned. “The boots definitely make the outfit shine. Well, after you, of course. Clothes should help bring out the best of a person, and this dress shows off your curves and beautiful legs.”
