I follow Corrina to our usual stand and we order an assortment of food. Corrina enjoys eating with us because she says she gets to try lots of different things without filling up on anything. As usual, we make our way to the park to sit in the grass to eat. A moment later, I stand up again. “I’m going to get another one of these,” I say.
“But we haven’t even eaten what we got already,” Corrina protests.
“It will not go to waste,” I assure her with a grin. I glance around before slowly moving towards the meat skewer vendor. Before I am even halfway there, I hear a commotion from the trees behind me. I sprint back towards Corrina and scoop her off the ground, holding her tightly in my arms. But Davix and Zann are already climbing down the trees, a limp body over Davix’s shoulder.
“What is going on?” Corrina demands, wriggling free of my arms. I release her.
“This person has been following us,” Zann gestures, as Davix drops the unconscious human on the ground. “And he had some kind of weapon aimed at you,” Zann continues, dropping the weapon in question on the ground. “Did you get enough for us?” he asks me.
“Wait. Stop. Did you three just use me as bait so two of you could ambush someone who’s been following me?” Corrina asks, her hands on her hips. She glares at the three of us.
“Yes,” I answer. “Should we not have done that?”
She glances down at the human on the ground and then back up at me. “No, you should not have done that. If there is something going on – some threat or concern, you should tell me.”
“Hopefully it will not happen again,” Zann offers, “But if it does we will make sure you are also aware of our plan.” He grins at her. “But it was a successful plan.”
Corrina frowns at us for a moment longer, but then the corner of her mouth curls upwards. “It does seem to have been successful,” she concedes. “As long as one of you is willing to carry him back to base.”
Davix picks up the human and throws him over his shoulder again as Zann picks up the weapon carefully. With a free hand, Davix points at his mouth. Corrina laughs and takes a bite from a skewer before holding it out for him to take a bite.
Chapter Thirty-Two: Zann
The scent of Davix’s release drifts in from the bathing chamber, faint but distinctive against the clean smell of soap. He has made no attempt to conceal his renewed interest in pursuing his own pleasure, and in truth I have felt a similar urge lately. It is something I haven’t really felt since I first began to mature, when one of our trusted elders explained how to stimulate my cock to release my seed in preparation for breeding. I remember his reassurance that engaging in such a practice by myself could be both pleasurable and practical when I was unsure of my own body and the changes occurring in it. Lately, I feel as if my body is changing again but there is no one to provide answers or explanations now.
Something happens to me when Corrina is near. My cock sheath tingles as if I am preparing for a breeding session, and the sensation gets stronger sometimes when her scent shifts though I do not know why. My hearts pound faster in my chest, and I feel as if all of my senses are on high alert. It is not unlike the thrill before the hunt, but there is nothing to hunt – there is only Corrina. And I do not want to hunt her, at least not in the way ofmost hunts. Instead, I only want to be near her, to look at her, to breathe in her scent, to feel the softness of her skin. When we say good night each day, I am saddened to see her leave. But each time I see her again, it brings me fresh joy. It is baffling, and yet, I do not want it to stop or go away. If anything, I want more of it.
I have been hesitant to say anything to my brood brothers, worried that I am perhaps experiencing some kind of unknown sickness even though I feel fit and healthy. But when I saw the look in Krish’s face as he looked at Corrina at the lake, I saw something reflected in his eyes that I feel must be visible in mine. Whatever I am experiencing, I am beginning to suspect that I am not alone. It is time for the three of us to discuss what is happening, but I am not sure how to begin.
Fortunately, Krish provides the perfect opportunity. “Why did you stop me from commenting on Corrina’s scent at the lake?” he asks curiously.
“I did not want it to go away,” I reply, glancing at Davix. He emerges from the bathing chamber, and I gesture for him to join us. “I have noticed fluctuations in Corrina’s scent before, but when I have commented on it something often happens and it changes. It seems most common when she smells sweet and ripe like she did at the lake.”
“Perhaps there is something we do not understand about humans that makes them uncomfortable when scented,” Krish offers. “Or maybe it is just because they have such a poor sense of smell that it makes them embarrassed. I can ask Wenschel. She is generally very good about answering our questions.”
“That is a good idea,” I reply. I am silent for a moment, and then I clear my throat. “I wish to ask you both something, but I am almost not sure how to ask it.”
“Just ask,” Davix signs. “When have we ever kept secrets?”
He is right, of course. “Do either of you notice changes in your body when Corrina is near?”
“What kind of changes?” Krish asks.
“My cock sheath sometimes throbs,” Davix signs haltingly. “It happened at the lake.”
“That’s why you walked away?” Krish asks.
Davix nods. “It is happening more often, and I do not know why. I thought it was because I needed to spill my seed, but it doesn’t make a difference.”
“When does it happen?” I ask Davix.
He looks thoughtful. “Most often in the evenings, though it happens at other times as well.”
“When you are close to Corrina or thinking about her?” I ask.
Davix looks surprised, then thoughtful. “Perhaps,” he signs. “We spend a lot of time with her. I did not think about it being related.”
“I sometimes feel that as well,” Krish adds. “And sometimes, I feel as if I am short of breath or like my hearts are pounding, but there is no threat or danger to explain it.”
