Off to the side of our group, you can’t miss Reaper, as he’s circling himself trying to catch his long ass tail as a thresher shark. It is weird seeing fins made out of flames, though. Whose sick idea was it to give a Hell Hound puppy more teeth and a flame whip that can slice through bodies and kill by unleashing a water whip? Even I know that's irresponsible. That’s probably why there are no creatures close to him; they don’t want to be punted into the next realm by that weapon or roasted to a crispy nugget.
‘Who’s who?’I ask, wanting to make this quick and easy rather than guessing. Better yet, what the fuck am I? I try to look down, but I realize I can’t see anything or even move. Well, this isn’t going to work. Do I have hands? Flippers? A dick?
‘Knox here.’A great white shark swims around us quickly, pulling my attention to him, and we call out his creature.‘I think the ocean picked accordingly, don’t you?’He chuckles, his teeth glistening in the light.
A blue humanoid figure turns around and faces me. Long blue hair floats around his shoulders, drawing attention to his spiky ears, bright brown eyes, and ripped abs.Seriously, am I bi?I know there’s nothing wrong with it, and I know Rez wouldn’t care, but damn, what a way to find out.
‘Neptune, is that you?’I swear, he reminds me of a picture I once saw in a book about the Roman God of the Sea. I would lick my lips if I had any.Seriously, what the hell am I?
‘Nice to know that my Nix form is still sexy, thanks Lynx.’He blows me a kiss, and it becomes painfully obvious that it’s JP. I watch him for a few moments as he tries moving his body. He rolls around and moves as if he’s water itself, and morphs his lower body into fins, easily propelling himself through the water, like propellers.
Now that’s kinda cool.
‘Is that a monster?’Moni cries, darting behind Chester, as a large dark serpent coils itself next to us and blinks with hazel eyes. Even though he’s made himself smaller, his mass is enough to sink multiple ships if he were back on Earth.
‘Levi? Is that you?’Rez’s voice calls out, and Levi’s head turns to the left, where a Harpy floats.
‘Yes, and you’re a Harpy?’Levi replies, chuckling as a few bubbles leave his nose and drift to the surface.
‘You mean Harpies are real?’she shrieks as she looks down her body to see her shells and turquoise tail.‘I thought that was just a nickname. Back home, this is what humans call a mermaid,’she insists.
‘Yeah, that’s what they are called there, but here, they are Harpies, truly. So it’s funny how you came up with that name on your own,’Knox says, laughing until Rez shoots him a death glare.
‘Just watch out for your mouth. Those teeth are razor sharp,’Ryker says, and the muscles in Rez’s body go rigid before she slowly turns towards him.
Awww shit. She’s gonna kill him. He just brought up his past with Serafin. How else would he know all of this shit? Ugh. I need to stop her.
I try to swim towards her, but I get yanked back by something, and I yell out in frustration.
‘What the fuck am I stuck on?’I growl, whipping myself around and coming face to face with an electric eel.‘Who thefuck are you and why are you fucking with me?’I demand, losing my patience.
‘I’m not in the mood, hairball,’Knots growls.
Instead of getting to Rez, I hear her instead.
‘I’m going to act like you didn’t say that, nor do you have personal knowledge of any of that. Got it?’she says in a deliberate tone to Ryker.
Rolling my eyes, I turn around and try to move, only to be stopped again.‘I swear to all the Fates, you better stop fucking with me.’I turn around, baring my teeth, and Knots just blinks.
‘Read it and understood,’Ryker replies to Rez.
‘Believe me, I would wish for Death right now if I could. Wiggle your body and look down,’Knots says to me. I roll my eyes, and since I can’t look straight down, I tilt my head to the side and look down as he suggests.
I follow my wiggling green body as it leads away from me and continues all the way over to Knots’ head.
What the nightmarish CatDog underwater Hell is this FinTwin? ScaleTail? GlubBlub? LatchLynx?
Snickers ring out throughout my head as my family, that I’m about to disown, finds humor in my pain.
“Well, they are two peas in a pod most days,” Zeke chuckles. “Figures they should be stuck together.”
“Aww, look, Chestie.” Moni cocks her body to lean on him. “I think they even beat us out for best couple,” she teases.
‘Man, you two got the shit end of the stick, huh?’Ryker swims up, sporting his own electric blue body of tentacles. The bottom half of him is a blue-ringed octopus, but from his waist up, he’s the same old Ryker.Lucky bastard.I’m stuck sharing a body with a blind, knotty, featherbrain who’s probably going to get me killed, while Ryker is the ocean equivalent of a majestic centaur.
‘You think I’m happy literally being stuck to you? I’m probably going to get Toxoplasmosis from just being attached to you,’Knots complains.
‘If only my dreams came true,’I reply under my breath.
