The world believes it’s myself and Eve or even Lilith that was created first—but really—it was Aaron and myself. We squabbled and fought over the simplest things until God—in his all mighty fuckery—told us to separate to the far sides of the Garden of Life. Shortly after, I was given Lilith, and she rocked my world. She changed me in more ways than one.
The most notable was when I found myself attacked by a lion and I was dying. I prayed to the bastard that gave me life, and all he said is that it was the way of the land. As I laid there under the tree, my only wish was that I could heal myself, and to my surprise and God’s…I did. By the time I found my way back to Lilith, God was smiting her to Hell and she happily left with a horde of fallen angels. Before she left, at some point she apparently had slept with me again, not knowing it was Aaron, and had changed him also.
God created Eve for us to share, and between you and me, I would have had a better lay if I fucked a fish. Aaron and I took turns sharing her without her even realizing it, until she fucked us over and allowed Lucifer to trick her. Eve wasn’t the brightest, and it wasn’t until God kicked us out of the Garden of Life that Aaron and I even knew we were different beyond our unintended immortality.
When we found ourselves cast out of the garden, we found that we could easily hide when we needed to. It started off small, blending in with the foliage around the trees and the grass surrounding us. It wasn’t until we met other humans that we started to document their differences. Then one morning a man—that I didn’t know—walked into my house and made himself at home.
It took Aaron explaining intimate things about me before I believed it was him, and I had to take him down to the lake for him to believe that he didn’t look like himself. We spent ages learning and defining our skills, always staying close, allowing one to play as Adam and the other to pose as another inconspicuous person. This assignment just so happened that I was playing myself.
“I did what I had to do,” I grunt and shift over to the bars. “Whatweplanned, remember?” I grasp the bars and pull myself up to a sitting position and look up at my brother. “Now get me out of here!”
“How did you even get in there in the first place?” Aaron says.
“L.A.M.B. happened. They freed our ex and she came for her pound of flesh. How else do you think she got out?” I growl with frustration. My entire body shakes with anger as I watch him look at me with pity. I don’t want pity.
I want out of this cage.
I want to be free.
I want revenge.
Ever since I slept with the devil, all puns included, I’ve been cursed.
“Well, that’s unfortunate,” he says and sits down in front of me like he’s waiting to be served lunch.
What the fuck is he thinking?
“What the fuck are you doing? Get me out of here, Aaron,” I seeth. “Obviously, my part of the plan worked, so get me out of here so we can fix your part of it.”
All he does is scoff and smirks at me before I lose it and start to rant.
“How do you know your part of the plan even worked?” he questions, slanting an eyebrow at me.
I slump against the cage, the hard bars digging into my back as I take in a breath to regain my strength. “Because, dearest brother, I coated the God-blessed dagger with angel dust and performed the task of helping the Demons cross over myself.” I glance over and take pleasure in seeing Aaron’s face go slack in shock. I went above and beyond in gaining angel dust and taking the extra steps to make sure our ex was out of the picture, so this bastard better let me out.
“How the—nevermind. I don’t want to know how you got the dust. I must say I’m impressed,” he admits. Although for saying he’s impressed, he sure doesn’t look like it as he quickly hides a smirk. “Who did you put inside her? Hopefully, it was someone that can do the job.”
Now it’s my turn to smirk. “Pyro, Genesis, and Tempus.”
“Wait…as in the children of Asmodeus—the Demon prince of lust?” Aaron questions, his eyes widening slightly in the glow of the light.
“Now who’s the better twin? I fucked Lilith firstandgot her possessed by the prince’s children,” I say with pride.
“But look where you’re at,” Aaron points out as he stands, making his point. “You’re there and I’m here, free as a bird.”
“That might be the case, but I completed my task. You, on the other hand, haven’t,” I smirk.
The silence between us is almost deafening as I watch him pull out a bottle of liquid from his robe. The liquid sizzles as it breaks the lock on my cage and he opens the door so I can shakily crawl out of my prison. I swallow the grunts as I slowly stand and stretch out to my full height but quickly lean against the cage for support.
All my very supportive brother does is smirk at me, taking joy at my misery, like usual.
“It’s not at all funny, Aaron. I used up all my energy regrowing my fucking skin after L.A.M.B. had some fun with me, so I need to rest before I’ll be of any use,” I say with a sneer. He mimics my expression when I mention Lilith’s besties, or pets, but other than that the twinkle in his eyes doesn’t leave. Having enough of his brand of torture, I push for the news that he’s holding.
Aaron starts rocking on his feet like he’s a toddler for a moment and I snap. “Why are you so happy?” I hiss, throwing my arms in the air. “We have to figure out how to pull this off since you failed. You were supposed to capture Lilwen, not kill her! You completely fucked this up.”
“I did?” he questions and right before my eyes, I watch his body shift with ease—nothing like our normal skinwalker abilities. There’s actually nothing normal about our abilities. When Aaron and I were thrown out of the Garden of Life with Eve, she became a banshee, a breed of her own that could see death coming and mourned it. Aaron and I became what we called skinwalkers. We are the only ones in existence. We can change our forms to duplicate another, but it’s quite painful and drains us of energy quickly. I watch as his eyes change from swirling gray eyes to one of a pentagram and swirling yellow.
I gasp as I take in the unique eyes that the Fates are known to have, yet we’ve never been close enough to see in person. “How? I thought she was found dead. Won’t her power transfer to someone else to take her place?” I whisper in awe.
