I’ve seen my fair share of livers laying severed before me. Most of them I’ve pulled out with my bare hands, but I’ve done that in my torture rooms, not in my mate's house. Looking up, I see one of the technicians disemboweled and strung up between the two chandeliers. If it wasn’t for where I was and the circumstances, I could almost take in the beauty of it all. Their intestines are strung out along the lights as if they were hung up for Christmas morning—all twenty-five feet of them.
My feet make wet slurping noises while I slowly make my way through the destruction of the room. A moan pulls my attention to behind the chair where I spot Layla's face scrunched up in pain.
“Layla!” I rush to her side, not caring what I look like, only to see her holding her abdomen and gasping for air.
“Help,” she mouths and then coughs, blood spewing out of her mouth.
I hear another moan and realize it came from Lily who is behind her. With a quick glance, I note she’s not doing much better. Blood is seeping from her lower leg in an alarming amount. I know enough that if we don’t stop the bleeding, she will bleed out.
“Call 911,” Lily mumbles and passes out.
Call? What does she mean by call? Shit? I glance behind me looking for a pad of paper and a pen and all I see on the stand is a cell phone.
Oh, call!
Well, fuck. Carl had tried to show me his phone last night, but I told him it would probably take me forever to get used to it. He had even bought me my very own this morning, but I left it at his house, saying there was no way I would need it. Against my protests, he showed me how to call and text him, but I was more interested in making up for lost time in other ways.
Reaching for her phone, I click a few buttons, hoping that she has Carl's name and number stored in her phone. My shoulders slump as tears build up in relief at seeing his name in her short contact list. Leaving bloody fingerprints behind, I click call and wait with baited breath for his voice to come over the phone.
“Lily? What do—”
“Carl! Help! The girls…something’s wrong. I think they’re dying. Hurry, please!” I ramble out as fast as I can. Thankfully, I had told him my plan to come and crash the girls' party today and give them my essence. According to my calculations, it should bypass the women and search for my mate’s DNA. Once found, it will erase the human DNA from the babies and boost the supernatural strand with my essence in order to make the children stronger.
My heart’s beating out of my chest as I stand up, looking around for the other two and find them on the other side of the room by the buffet table, unconscious.
“Lilith, we’ll be there in two minutes. We aren’t far,” Carl assures me, his tone coming across calm but rushed. I can hear him running on the other end. As he runs, my brain finally decides to kick in, and I conjure up a long dress and immediately drop the phone to rip off the bottom. Rushing back to Lily, I make a tourniquet around her thigh to try and stop the bleeding, and that’s when I hear the roar of Jessup's bear right before the front door is busted off the hinges.
“Lilith, where are they?” Carl yells.
“Here!” I yell back and I check for Lily’s pulse. It’s so weak.
Footsteps pound down the hall until I see Daniel, Matthew, Carl, and Jessup—who is still in his bear form—slide into the room. Multiple displays of shock, horror, and anger dot their faces.
“What the fuck, Lilith. I said no bloodbaths. What is—”
“Where are they?” Carl says, cutting off Daniel and getting down to saving lives. It’s one of the things I love about him. He’s always put duty before himself, taking care of others and doing the best that he can.
“I don’t know what happened, honestly. I just put a tourniquet on Lily and her pulse is weak. Layla is coughing up blood. Lanna and Lucy are unconscious on the other side of the room. I don’t know what to do. Help!” I look around at my once lovers and beg them to believe me, but all I see is disbelief, uncertainty, and hatred.
Carl steps up and barks orders which thankfully takes the heat off of me for the moment.
“Jessup, shift! I need hands and you’ve had basic medical training. I need stats on the girls. I need heart rates, any injuries that you see and if they tell you anything, write it down.” Jessup nods and quickly shifts before he runs over to Lucy as my heart breaks.
Just as I found them and was going to win them back, this happened.
“Matthew, I need you to get your healing potions from your house, all of them!” Mattie nods and rushes out of the house without another look in my direction.
“Daniel, you're my runner, since you’re the fastest. I need my medical supplies brought here. They are labeled in the back room of my office, along the back wall. Plus, I need the ultrasound machine.”
“Ok, I’ll be right back,” he confirms, and he glares at me before flying out of the room with his Vampire speed.
“Lilith, I need you to get a notebook and pen for Jessup. Then I need you to bring me all the towels and blankets that you can find.” Without a word, I nod and rush out of the room. I had seen an office to the left when I first walked into the house, so that’s where I head, leaving bloody footprints in my wake.
‘Isn’t this exciting?’Chew Toy exclaims.
‘It’s definitely the most fun I’ve had in a century. I’ve never even been to Earth,’Rocks admits.
Keep talking fuckers.
