“JP doesn’t want me to find love,” she announces and then pouts.
“What?” Rez’s head bounces between the two of us before she gets off the bed to face both of us.
“That’s not what I said, Moni. Please understand. I just want to protect you.” I plead with my eyes, but my brotherly whims aren’t working.
‘You’re being a pimple butt,’Moni directs to me.
“I have a date and I don’t know what to wear, and JP came in and said I wasn’t allowed to go,” Moni whines. “Hell, he didn’t even give me a good reason. Just said I couldn’t go because he didn’t know him and he knows everyone. Rez, please talk some sense into him,” she pleads as she grabs Rez’s hands and brings them up to her chest.
“Moni, just listen to me,” I attempt again, but no one does. Rez shrieks and launches herself at Moni in a fierce hug.
“Oh my God! Really? That’s amazing! Tell me all about him. I want to know.” The two of them start jumping up and down, and Moni blushes a bright mixture of pastel yellow and pinks.
Shaking my head in disbelief, I watch as they rush over to the closet and open it to find different outfits hanging up.You’ve got to be kidding me.
Is this what it’s like to be outvoted? If so, this blows. No wonder Moni was all excited about getting a female friend.
A high pitched squeal brings me out of my musings, and I see Rez pulling down a dress and bringing it up to Moni’s frame. A part of me wants to interject ‘no’ because it’s not covering every inch of her skin, but seeing Rez’s eyes light up stops me. Who am I to interfere when it’s bringing a smile to the both of them? Seeing my little sister grow up and taking that step of independence is a hard pill to swallow. But I knew this day would come, I just wanted it to hold off until I was dead. It’s difficult to withdraw from being that big protective brother that steps in and knows what’s best for her. What if she doesn’t need me anymore?
Nah, she’ll always need me in some capacity.
Besides, they don’t need me for this. I might as well leave them and go start on dinner or at least prep it. I pause in my tracks as realization hits me.
It’ll just be Rez and I tonight!
That’s consolation enough for pulling back on my big brother instincts. A plan forms as I quickly rush out of the apartment to get some supplies. This will be a night she won’t forget.

INSATIABLE WOMEN
Ryker
The plastic office chair I’m sitting on is the only thing keeping me from committing a felony. Well, that and the fact I’m still in shock at the news just dropped on me.
“Say that again?” I sputter out.
Pinching his nose and huffing and puffing in annoyance is the first sign my father is getting tired of seeing me.
“Ryker, I doubt saying it again would help you process the information any better.” He turns and goes back to his medical bookshelf to pursue what he was looking for before I came barging in asking for help.
I never got around to asking Dad about my dick issue after Rez was brought into the hospital last week, but today seemed like the best time to bug him, since I was starving. The last time I managed to get full was at the beach party. It was so sexually charged that it was an overflowing buffet for the taking. But of course, like all things, I didn’t stay full and my dick won’t work.
So what the fuck is wrong with me?
Hell, even the guys are able to pick up the difference with me. Yesterday, Knox growled that I needed to get laid and stop being a bitch, but that within itself was the fucking problem. Yes, my powers still worked and I was able to arouse the sexual tension and the lust my demon fed on, but it was my fucking body that didn’t want to work. So, here I am, in Dad’s office during lunch.
“What do you mean, Mate?” I choke out before coughing to clear my throat. Damn, even my body was trying to deny those foreign words. Yes, I know what a mate is, but that’s normally used for shifters, not…well whatever the fuck I am. A hybrid?
“I meant just that, Ryker,” Dad states, pulling out a thick book and walking back to his desk. Letting the book slam down on his workspace, he pulls out his glasses and places them on his face.
“Really, Dad?”
“What?” Giving me a short yet annoyed look, he flips open the front cover and scans the contents.
“The glasses?”
He gives me a cocky look and smirks before going back to his book. Holy shit! I’ve never seen this side of him before. “It’s just a habit. Besides, it helps pull in the ladies. Nerd swagger is in.”
