“Yeah, the last time anyone saw you was yesterday when you changed clothes before meeting with Lilith,” JP chimes in, giving me a curious look.

Levi’s head shoots up at that announcement, a scowl flashing on his face, but vanishes just as fast. Looking around the room, everyone wears a concerned look. The only thing is, I don’t remember everything. Scrunching my face in concentration, I stare down at my lap as I try to recall the memories.

“While I was out, I remember seeing flashes of my past, but… I don’t think it was real. Or maybe I finally saw stuff that was hidden from me?” I question. “Like drinking tea with the wrong properties, and my mother casting spells at the weirdest times. I didn’t even know she knew magic,” I say looking back up and finding shocked faces. It’s disturbing to look at their features of concern, pity, and shock, so I glance back down to my lap to recall the rest.

Vaguely passing over my trip to the cave, the protection spells, and helping prepare the healing potions, I continue on.

“I know it sounds weird, but I lost my mind there for a bit because there was no existence until the searing pain consumed me. Like my body was stripped and flayed apart and dipped into acid. Then—” my voice catches and I swallow the lump in the throat.

“I saw them,” the words leave my mouth in a whisper.

“Who?” Ryker asks.

They will never believe me, hell, I don’t even understand what happened and I was there.Just rip the band-aid off and tell them though.Looking up I see the reassuring looks and decide to just trust them.

“The Four Horsemen,” I mutter. Their looks of encouragement slide off their faces and are replaced with shock for a beat before the questions rush at me all at once.

“Wh… What do you mean the Four Horsemen?” Levi questions.

"Did they hurt you?” Zeke asks.

“What happened?” Ryker.

“What did they look like?” That was JP.

“What did they say to you?” Moni asks.

“Woah, hold up,” I say, holding up my hands to ward them off. Holding up fingers as I count. “One, they were in cloaks so I don’t know what they looked like. Two, they didn’t hurt me, in fact, they were the ones that made the pain go away. And three, I couldn’t hear anything from them until the last one spoke to me. He mentioned being redemptions road or something,” I say, chuckling.

They all give me a curious look and Moni squeals and claps her hands, then starts to fan herself. I see the signs, like everyone else, and JP reaches out to catch her as she faints. He meets my eyes and I giggle as he gently pats her cheek, waking her up.

“Holy flower turds! I’m sorry though. The Four Horsemen are like rock stars to me. Does that mean it worked? You have powers? What are they? Do you feel different? Do—”

“Woah there Tasmanian devil,” I cut her off, holding up my hands to fend her off, smiling. She has the grace to blush and sit down on the side of the bed. Taking stock of myself again, I address the group, “First of all, I feel great, as in no aches or pain. I am starting to get a little hungry, but other than that I don’t feel any different. Am I supposed to feel any different? Is that how powers work? You just all of sudden know you have powers and know how they work?” I look around for answers and get nothing but shrugs. I would be able to hear a flea fart in here with how quiet it is.

“No clue, since we’re all learning. Most of us have just experienced magic during accidents or our family has at least warned us that sometimes emotions will trigger them,” Ryker helpfully supplies at least. I take in a deep breath and let it out in a sigh. Well, maybe I’ll be able to find the answer as to how the hell I got here.

“Anyway, now I just don’t know how I got here. The last thing I remember is drinking the potion for clarity and calmness, and everything else is kinda hazy from there,” I tell them, shrugging my shoulders.

“What? What did you say?” Levi cuts in, leaning over the end of the bed. His knuckles turn white as he grips the railing.

“Yeah, I didn’t know that was a thing either,” I admit, giggling until I notice he’s not laughing. “What’s wrong?” I ask, the smile sliding off my face as I become concerned.

“Nerezza, think back the best you can. Can you tell me what was used to make it?” He asks, and my skin crawls at his urgent tone.

Lilith had shown me everything, so I name the ingredients as he hangs his head and nods to each one until he scrunches his brow at the last four.

“What’s wrong?” Ryker asks, bumping Levi’s shoulder, pulling him out of his musings.

Looking back up between everyone, he finally focuses on me.

“There is no such thing as a potion for clarity and calmness,” he says matter of factly.

What the fuck?

“What the fuck?” Moni, mimicking my inner rantings. I love that girl.

JP pushes Moni out of the way as they switch places and the guys start raising their voices about the concoction.
