“Well, look what we have here.”

Startled, I whip my head around, and there, standing with the door wide open is a witch, and I don’t mean Emer or the other harpy, but an honest to god witch with green hair.

How do I know, you ask? Well, the big black ball of magic in her hand kinda gives her away. She’s buck naked, but she has a tattoo of a demon with horns over her chest, and she’s chanting. Damn it. I knew that the lingering spell would be bad news. It messed with my illusion as soon as I got close enough! FUCK! How did I not feel it slip?

‘WILLOW HELP!’

The door swings back and slaps the witch in the face, knocking her aside, and I jump down, changing into my cat form. Fuck this. I’m not about to be fried. I feel my illusion trying to flicker on as I panic, but it’s better than nothing. They might not get a clear picture of me. Rushing the door, I jump over the prone witch that’s looking blitzed out of her mind. Willow must have hit her good. I stumble as something brushes up against me, but I fight the urge to piss on her and just run.

I know, I know… I’m such a bad kitty. I’ve overstayed my welcome, though. Running down the hall, I realize even though they might not be able to see me, I’m not quiet while running. Shouts start up, and I almost slide right past my turn for the front door. One of the harpies jumps up and tries to reach for my wavering form, but she runs into an invisible force field. If it was any other time, I would appreciate that her wet tits are pressed against the glass.

‘Willow?’

‘I got ya, fur baby.’

Willow opens right as I reach her, and I slide out with my departure marked by the slam of the door. Fists pound on the door behind me as I catch my breath. “Damnit, you fucking door cunt. Let me out! I need to find that intruder!” Emer yells.

I scoff at her. Now it makes sense that Willow let me in. The bitch doesn’t know how to treat an ancient.

‘Thank you, Willow, and that room you were worried about? It’s a summoning room,’I warn and walk off. She didn’t need to say anything. Having a summoning room in the dorms, or hell anywhere, is prohibited. I wonder if they will move it now since someone knows about it.

Heart still racing, I run down to Knots.

‘Good work, furball,’he says as he opens the door for me.

‘Thanks, Grouch.’I don’t even have the energy for a proper insult.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Hairy like Bigfoot

Rez

For the last hour, a movie has been playing in the background but I can’t tell you what it was. After my shower, I threw on some sweats that JP laid out for me when I said I wanted something comfy to lounge in. He’s made a habit of laying out clothes for me, but I wasn’t complaining too much since I still didn’t have my own yet, besides the same clean clothes that showed up in my closet when I thought about having ‘normal’ clothes.

After getting dressed, I padded out to the living room and curled up on the sofa. Of course, Zeke switched seats to curl up on my right side and that left Levi plastered to his phone like glue on my left. JP sat across from me in the armchair while he gave me thoughtful looks, and I doubt he even knew a movie was on. Probably trying to figure out what happened to my face.

Zeke hasn’t done anything but shoot Levi dirty looks while playing with my hair for the past twenty minutes. Lynx came in a little bit ago and went straight to my room, opting not to take the shower or a bath that he sorely wanted before. When I asked if he was okay, he stated that he was fine and needed a catnap, so I didn’t push him. He’s had an emotional day as well and I know I have to stop pushing him when he needs his space. I’ve been dodging questions from the guys here and there about my face, but shooting them death glares had finally stopped that line of questions. Annoyingly, I have a feeling that’s only going to last for so long. I’ll give JP credit though, he’s tricky. He’s been trying to get me to think of the fight by asking what all I did to Emer or who patched me up in the clinic. He just wanted me to think so I’ll conveniently blast the information to him. I’m on to you, buddy.

I can’t take this tension anymore. Sitting up, I’m prepared to go into my room or… anywhere, when the door opens up, and Moni glides in. I can tell the moment she sees my face because her eyes get as big as saucers.

“Holy Fart Bubbles! What happened?” Flying over, she sits on my shoulder to get a closer look at my disgusting cheek. After getting her fill, Moni moved to sit on the edge of the coffee table.

“She apparently got into a ‘scuffle’ with Emer,” Zeke says, making air quotations with his fingers.

Rolling my eyes, I give up. Might as well tell them. “Okay, I’ll tell you what happened, sheesh.”

I spend the next twenty minutes telling them what transpired in class and how I just snapped because she put her hands on me. At this point, I can admit my tolerance is pretty low for her shit since I’ve only been here a few days and I’m already drawing blood. I’ve never felt comfortable with going into details about myself though. That was always the complaint with my exes, and that hasn’t changed since coming here. So, I skim over the medical part and just said how the doctor cleaned me up and told me to eat, then rest.

No offense to these guys, but I don’t know them. Yes, I’m friendly enough, but there’s no way I’m sharing my life with them yet. I’m not an open book that someone can always read. A few of them I can see me opening up to at some point, though right now, I’d rather hold my cards to my chest. It’s a few seconds as I wait for reactions, and then the room erupts in laughter. Moni laughs so hard she faints and falls off the coffee table she was perched on. JP’s quick to jump up and wake her up by tickling her as we all chuckle when she throws him a death glare. Better again, she turns and throws me a bright smile, “I knew I liked you,” she laughs from the rug. She jumps up and starts dancing around the room. Quirking my eyebrow in confusion, JP is the one that answers.

“Emer thinks she’s an entitled princess. She’s only loyal to her family. If her family told her to take out her best friend, she would in a heartbeat. So, it’s nice to see her get her ass handed to her,” he explains and chuckles again.

I look over at Levi and see a stoic expression on his face, and my ecstatic mood plummets. Oh yeah, his history with the harpy. How could Levi and Emer date? I mean what the fuck did he see in her? She was beyond fake and a wet noodle had more personality than she did. I wonder if there was just something about him that made him see someone in a different light. I guess in the end, it didn’t work out and he saw the darkness everyone else saw in that harpy. She’s straight poison. I don’t need secret powers to know that shit. When Levi’s phone goes off, the room quiets down as he looks at it.

“Sorry about that. That’s your alarm, Rez,” he says, looking up at me.

“Me?” I ask. “What alarm?”
