‘Yeah.’Where was he going with this? Mr. Pinkleton was an 80-year-old veteran. Oh, God.

‘I was looking into the meat department’s side window while he was cutting up sausages one day. He was wearing those cut-off gray sweats he loves, and when he bent over, a hot pink fox tail fell out of the bottom of his pants. I got the honor of watching him shove it back up there—Jurassic style.’

Horror fills me for more than one reason. One: Mr. Pinkleton plays with non-lubed sex toys at the store? What the fuck? We always got our meat from there. Insert retching noise here. Even with lube... I still want to throw up a little in my mouth. And two: I hold my breath to see if Mr. Hottie here notices Lynx or our conversation. Even though it has been years, I still have fear and hope he didn’t just talk in my head. It’s been so long since I’ve seen Lynx as anything other than a cat, and after everything else I’ve seen today, I could actually finally be going crazy. I want this to be real though. And if his power is different here, who’s to say someone else can’t hear him too.

Tall, golden, and handsome doesn’t so much as flinch or even indicate he hears or sees Lynx sniffing around his room in his Marten form. I’m a little disappointed but I have to remind myself that it doesn’t mean anything. He could just be unobservant.

Please, God, don’t let Lynx piss on the carpet.

Perhaps Dr. Fisk was right about Lynx being a hallucination after all. Maybe when I get back home I can call and make an appointment to see her again.

Pretending to not see Lynx myself, I walk over and look at the blond God.

“Have a seat,” he motions to the chair. I sink into the plush leather and take in the fine specimen of a male. He gives me another small smile and leans further back on his hands, getting comfortable. I wonder how he plays into all of this. Better yet, how does he play? You know it’s always the put together ones who have the deepest kinks, or so I’ve always read about in books. I wonder what he’s like out of the suit. I mean, won’t he be more comfortable without his jacket and tie? Popping those buttons and slowly peeling off his shirt while running my hands—

“Nerezza?”

Huh? What?

I’m shaken out of the visual daydream and look up to see those hazel eyes staring back at me with amusement, no doubt knowing where my mind was just at. Lynx’s chuckle inside my head does not go unnoticed. Well damn. Heat rushes to my cheeks as I suppress a smile.

“I’m sorry, what were you saying?” Might as well deflect and move on.

He flips through a folder he must have picked up when I was eye humping him.

“I said my name is Leviathan, and I’m going to get you started here at Purgatory Prep.”

“Um, wait! What? Purgatory Prep? That’s not a real thing.”

“Yes. It’s the best higher learning institution out of all the regions for supernaturals to harness our powers and learn how to blend into the human world.”

My eyebrows disappeared into my hairline.

Say. What. Again?

Levi—because there’s no way I’m calling him that long ass name—continues talking while flipping through the folder, utterly oblivious to my reaction. Meanwhile, I’m struggling to keep my shit together and slow down my breathing. My palms start to get sweaty, and I rub them against my legs, trying to feel anything besides the panic that’s treading closer to the full-on terror.

Oh shit… this is real!

Supernaturals are real!

‘Duh Rez. What do you think I am?’Lynx says with a scoff.

‘Shut up. You’re in my head.’

Sounds become distorted as if I’m swimming underwater. Only a few words filter through—classes, dorm room, and roommate. But once he stops and makes eye contact, everything snaps back into focus.

Holding up my hand, I cut him off, “Alright, just stop.”

‘Collaborate and listen. Lynx is here for the new cock audition.’

I growl at Lynx in my head and then try to block him out. “First of all, I don’t need a school to learn how to blend into humanity because I am HUMAN!” I say, shouting the last word. I jump up out of my seat and move behind the chair to give me space to move. “Second, I have my own school that starts on Monday. Not to mention, my family will fucking kill me when I get back home!” I shriek as I pace back and forth.

“Well, I guess it’s a good thing you’re here then, huh?” Levi says with a smirk.

My eyes pop out of my head, and I lean on the chair for balance. If I wasn’t freaking out, I would appreciate his sense of humor.

Levi cocks his head and looks at me like I’m crazy. There’s no way he would understand my grandmother if he knew her. She’s going to kill me, there’s no way to get out of that, but maybe it will be a fast death, instead of a slow, painful one. One can only hope.
