“It doesn’t often happen, Rez. I’m just explaining the reason why we are more accepting of those relationships than the humans are,” I wink, and she eases back onto my chest.

“So, let me get this straight. You’re saying I might find people running around who will have multiple girlfriends and/or boyfriends?” She asks, and I nod. “Then how will I know someone is single?” Sitting up with a huff, she throws her hands up in the air. It’s the cutest thing I’ve seen today. “It’s not like you will have a neon light shining on your forehead announcing you’re up for grabs, right?” She questions, looking at me with a pout.

I laugh at the sight and the visual she just painted. Damn, that would make it easier.

“Honestly, I’ve never thought of that question before. I can normally tell when someone is interested in me when they say they are, or if someone is taken when they’re hanging all over someone. Normally, single creatures will come forward and make a pass if they are free to do so. Plus, gossip helps. Girl, gossip is where it’s at, especially in this school. If you hear someone gets around, there’s a good chance they are just looking for a casual relationship,” I say, sitting up and looking at her.

‘Ugh. That’s just too much drama to ask for. No, thank you! I hate guessing games. I rather just know who’s off the market and who’s not. I don’t do well with cheaters and it sounds like this is just asking for a disaster. Maybe if it was simpler but… ugh!’She gets up off the bed and goes to look closer at the BDSM picture I have drying on the floor by the window. Well, that’s a little disappointing, but it doesn’t seem like she’s completely against it. I just have to make it less complicated for her. I’m definitely up to the challenge.

My phone chimes and I pull it out of my pocket, seeing a text from Zeke.

Fang boy:Yo. R u still coming out?

I shoot a quick text back to him.

Playboy:Thought you had plans. Miss me already?

Fang boy:U know it.??

Playboy:Then I’ll b cumin in no time.

Amused, I push my phone back into my pocket and ignore the next text that comes in. Moving over to Rez, I notice her looking at the picture I painted over the summer.

“This is beautiful,” she whispers, awe lacing her voice.

“Thanks,” I say close to her ear, and she spins to look at me in wonderment.

“You painted this?” she asks, and I nod. “From memory or...” she trails off, color painting her cheeks.

The picture she’s referring to is one the fairy court commissioned, but the picture was worthless to them because of the prince’s death. The picture was done in watercolors and featured Rodale Elverson, his lover, and his cousin enjoying a menage in a meadow of beautiful purple, blue, and pink flowers.

“It was a portrait,” I answer with pride. It’s one of my best ones I’ve ever done, and the fine detail was on point, if I must say. Nerezza is speechless as she takes one more look at it and turns away, biting that bottom lip again.

“I hate—”

“Thanks—”

We both stare at each other and start laughing at the same time.

I grab her hand and squeeze it. “Ma chérie, it’s been a pleasure showing you my sanctuary and what will be our den to host the best parties, but alas, I will have to end our wonderful evening. But do not worry, there will be others. Unfortunately, the text I received a minute ago was a reminder that I must go. Apparently, my fans cannot handle being without me for too long,” I say, and she laughs. I swear I could get used to that sound. Intrigued by the thought, I walk us back to the living room where I leave her and grab my jacket on my way to the door to meet up with Zeke. Looking over my shoulder once I reach the door, I catch Rez staring at my ass. When our eyes meet, I wink and her cheeks redden as she turns around and heads to the sofa. Chuckling at her reaction, I walk out the door, slipping on my jacket. It will be so much fun living with her. She is so refreshing, like the morning rays kissing a dewdrop in the spring. She’s so expressive and not closed off like most supes are around here.I’m so lucky to have her as my roommate.I’m looking forward to experiencing all that she is willing to share with me. Hopefully, that includes more than her friendship. We already have the attraction, now I just have to woo her and seal the deal.

Chapter Nine

Casanova

Rez

Sitting down on the clean sofa, I’m restless. Moni is hiding in her room for the night, Lynx is passed out on my bed, JP left to go do his own thing, and I don’t want to try to fall asleep just yet. It would be impossible to do so with all of these thoughts running through my head right now. This entire day has been a whirlwind mess, and it will be easier to sleep if I burn off some energy and come back exhausted. Grabbing my class schedule off the counter, I decide to go explore on my own. I’m not one to wing things if possible, so why not see where my classes are?

Instead of taking the in-door corridor, I walk out into the crisp, cool air of the autumn night. The full moon is on display, lighting up the night sky; my first stop, Pestilence Tower. Walking along the covered passage, I notice small floating lamps, the same in Nova, except these are shaped like horses galloping. As fascinating as it is, it’s also kinda creepy in how lifelike they move. The brisk air is invigorating though, and I make the walk across campus without seeing anyone on the path.

Walking into the front entry, I’m surprised it’s darker in here than outside. Giving my eyes time to adjust to the dim lighting, I notice the layout of the space. Elevators sit in the back off to the entryway’s right. Stairs branch off to the left, leading up to the other floors, but judging by the room numbers, my first class is off to the right, down the hallway lit up with sconces.

Making my way down the hall, the light fixtures become brighter as I get closer. That’s a neat trick. It doesn’t seem as creepy walking down the empty hallway, hearing my shoes echo as I walk when the room isn’t as dark. The halls are a beige color with pictures of different creatures lining the corridors. Trying to find my classroom, I notice there are no windows in the doors, but there are small empty picture frames next to them. Looking closer, I finally see the room number along the top border. Ahh, you cheeky bastard, I shake my finger at the sad empty frame.Don’t ask me. I don’t think I’m in the right frame of mind here. I chuckle at my unintentional joke. See what I did there?

Locating my first class, I try the door handle and find it locked. Nope, I’m not taking no for an answer. I will discover an unlocked door. My goal tonight is to know what a classroom looks like in this crazy world. I continue down the corridor trying the doors until I come across one that’s open. Pulling it open as silently as possible, I walk inside and my mouth drops at the sight of what appears to be a private room. Leaning back to see the information outside of the door, I notice the room number blank. Maybe a study room?

An unlocked door, to me, says I have free rein to look around, so don’t judge me, I’m taking this chance to snoop. Drawers are off-limits, but anything lying around is fair game. The office is a decent size and is lit by a dying fire in the fireplace towards the back of the room and the lights on the display cases scattered around. I take in the spicy scent of cinnamon and something else I can’t quite distinguish before looking around the room.
