My chest expands. “I will.”
Hanging up the phone, I wander into the living room where Lola already has the TV on and tuned into the pregame coverage for tonight’s matchup.
“Was that Vivian?” she asks, looking up from her phone.
I nod, a sigh gusting out of me as I flop down onto the couch. “Yep. She offered the use of her PR machine and her shady connections to ruin Bash if he ever hurts me.”
Lola blinks at me a couple of times before throwing her head back and laughing loud and long. “God, I love your mom.”
“Me too.”
My phone buzzes in my hand, and I almost expect it to be something from her, but it’s a text from Bash.
Sebastian
I miss you. Tell me you’re doing okay.
Lola chuckles when she catches my lovesick expression. “Tell crab boy I say hi.”
Me
I miss you too. I’m fine. Lola and I stayed in today. She says hi, by the way.
Sebastian
Hi, Lola. You ladies going to watch our game?
Me
Of course. We already have the pregame coverage on. Are you ready to kick some ass again?
Sebastian
You know it. I’m going to make you proud.
Me
I’m always proud of you. You don’t have to do anything to earn it.
Sebastian
Still going to. Every save is for you, baby.
Me
That’s really hot.
Sebastian
Is it? Good. Then I’ll be extra motivated. I want to watch you make yourself come after the game.
Lola chokes on her saliva, and when I look over, I see her reading my text exchange.
“Lols! Quit snooping. Jesus.”
“Sorry, not sorry. I’m just happy my girl’s getting some. Ryland would never.”
No, he wouldn’t have. I grin.
