Hips flailing now, as Kai’s fingers gouged into my hole again and his tongue swarmed across my prick. It was that final, extra sensation I’d wanted, needed, but simultaneously too much, too extreme.Driving the climax out of me like an exorcism.
“Oh, fuck,” I yelped, thighs closing on his head as I levered myself into his throat.Felt him gulp, swallowing as the orgasm wracked me.A climax strong enough to leave bruises.
“Shit, no,” I grunted, voice hoarse, as I grabbed his wrist to stop him.My body overloaded, like I’d been turned inside-out.
Kai rolled to the side, breath rasping in his chest.I tried to lift my head to look at him, but my neck was a limp noodle.
“Holy fuck,” I managed, eventually.Silence, bar his heavy breathing.“That was...fuck.”
“It wasn’t...”he started, then a pause.“I mean, I hope...”
I shook my head; then, realizing he couldn’t see me, gave an exhausted chuckle.“It was good.So good.Just...unexpected.”
I forced myself up, onto my shoulder, so that I could look down at him.Traced across his cheekbones, his heat stark against my fingertips.Across his full lips, his mouth opening to suck in my fingers; slowly massaging them with his tongue.I guessed he could still taste me, sharp and strong.
“Do you think the neighbors heard me?”I asked, laughing.Pulled my fingers free of Kai’s mouth.
“They probably heard you all the way down in reception,” he teased.
I shoved him in the shoulder in reproach, then had to laugh along with him. It’d been the sort of orgasm which sweeps through you like a power-washer: blasts every thought, other than being right there in the moment, clean out of your head.I knew it wouldn’t last, that it couldn’t last, but I didn’t care.Just gave in to the present, laying in a strange bedroom with a great guy and coasting on the endorphins.
“I’ve had fun,” Kai said, eventually. After the laughter had petered out, and we’d laid there for a while in the unexpected comfort of each other’s silence.I wasn’t sure whether he meant right now, the sex, or our trip, or the whole of the summer.Somehow it didn’t seem right to ask.
“Me too,” I said, instead.Because, really, it didn’t matter what he meant. My answer was the same regardless.
Chapter Twenty-One
Less than 24 hourslater we were in a cab, turning into our street.I had a tablet “full” of underwhelming notes and hastily-downloaded copies of the presentation slides. We’d both slept on the flight, Kai nodding off even before the plane had left the runway.I’d nursed a plastic cup of mediocre Chardonnay and taken the opportunity to watch his sleeping face, until the thrum of the engines lulled me in turn.
Standing on the sidewalk, our bags at our feet, we stared at each other. It was dark now, the light from the street lamps a dim orange.Night air crisper and cooler than it had been down in the valley.
It felt like another ending, one I didn’t have a name for.
“Well,” he said, finally.“I had fun.”
I thought back, to almost the same three words the distance of a flight and a whole bundle of regrets away. There was only one thing I could think to say in reply.
