Then—

“Well, this looks serious.”

Cal.

Izzy laughed softly before she could stop herself.

Cal grinned at her, holding out his hand.

“You promised me a dance earlier, Moreno.”

A small muscle jumped in Grant’s cheek.

Izzy felt the tension change.

So did Cal.

For one second, Grant looked like he might actually say no.

Then, slowly, reluctantly, he let her go.

“One dance,” he said evenly.

Cal’s grin widened.

“That sounded threatening.”

“It wasn’t meant to sound.”

Izzy bit back a smile as Cal pulled her back toward the center of the floor.

Grant watched them for exactly three seconds.

Then turned and headed straight for the band.

A moment later, the music cut off mid-song.

Groans and laughter rose through the barn.

Burke looked up from across the room.

Grant leaned toward the lead singer and muttered something.

The singer grinned immediately.

“Well,” he called into the microphone, “looks like somebody decided it’s cake time.”

The entire barn erupted into cheers.

Cal stopped dancing and looked toward Grant across the room.

Grant lifted his beer slightly.

Cal laughed outright.

“Coward,” he muttered.
