“Mr. Alien,” she stared pointedly at me, “youcalledme.” She brushed strands of wayward hair from her face. “In the middle of the night, I might add.”

I squeezed my hands into fists under the communications table. “Right.”

“Sooo,” she elongated the word. “What’s the deal, Miach? You going to help me with the stealth shielding, or you going to hide on your cruiser?”

“I’m not hiding.” The little female’s perception was uncanny. I thought my ability to determine what was wrong with a person if I was in close proximity to them was invasive enough, but this Terran cut right to the heart of a male.

“Sure, sure.” She reclined in her chair, hands crossed over her stomach. “Whatever you say.”

“Sakasha,” I snorted, “I amnothiding.”

“And there you go with that nickname again.” She threw her hands in the air. “Are you ever going to tell me what that means?”

“No,” I said with finality.

She huffed. “Fine, be that way. But get your ass over to the moonbase by 0800 hours. Don’t be late.”

The communique ended.

“Drav it!” That had not gone as planned. I’d pushed the little Terran away, hoping to make her hate me. But every time she returned in full force. It was a crexing curse. No matter how much I wanted her, the hunger beat inside me, revealing the truth.

Taylor was not my mate.
