But tonight was a time to think about happy things…like my future with Killian and the pack.

The entire town of Tall Timber had thrown a party for our pack a few days ago, and Killian had invited packs and covens from the closest ley line towns. The remaining Valley Prowlers, of course, were not invited. They’d been banished to the towns where there were no ley lines, which meant that within a few months, they wouldn’t even be able to shift. About fifteen of Aurora’s packmates from the Iron Valley pack, who’d supported the attack on us, were also banished.

But now the wedding celebration was over, and Killian and I stood in his room, preparing for the moon-bite ceremony.

I had stripped out of the dress, placing it gently in a trunk provided by Maeve. Maybe, one day, my daughter would wear it on her wedding night. Or sooner than that—Sarah.

With only my fancy underwear left, I turned toward Killian, who stood by our bed, waiting. The magic of the full moon sang through my veins. His eyes shone with love for me.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” I said.

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”

“Even if it binds your life to mine?”

He walked over and pulled me close to him. He’d also stripped down, only his boxer briefs left.

“I can’t live without you, Daphne. Even without this bond, I’d drive myself seven kinds of crazy if you weren’t near. My life is bound to yours, and we’re just going to make it official as our ancestors before us intended.”

My heart swelled with love for him.

He pushed my hair out of my face and leaned down to claim me with a hungry kiss. As he did, his hands moved across my body and I heard fabric ripping. My bra fell away. Then my panties.

I reared back, laughing. “I loved that bra!”

“I’ll buy you a hundred more.” He scooped me up in his arms and deposited me on the bed, stepping out of his boxers.

Killian approached the bed, climbing onto it. His muscular presence radiated over me, filling me with anticipation.

He slid on top of me, his muscular body covering mine. This was no haste, no speed. Just love. He kissed my neck gently, nuzzling it, and then moved down to suckle my breasts, caressing them and sucking the aching ruby tips.

“Yes.” I gasped, feeling the moon's magic pulsing through my veins.

“Mine,” he answered with a growl. His thick cock nudged between my pussy lips, and I opened my thighs to him. With one savage thrust, he was inside me.

I gasped in passion. He pumped into me, his hips churning. His thick cock stretched me, and I gripped him easily. The rhythm was slow and steady. This was a ritual, something sacred.

The energy between us built and swelled, and I felt as if we were one entity. Our eyes locked on one another, our souls the same. I gasped, and he leaned in, his lips on my neck, me feeling his teeth there.

His teeth against my throat, my absolute submission to him spiritually…

Under the moon’s light and power, I came. And I came hard.

Killian’s grip on me tightened, and his teeth sank into my neck. It was pain and pleasure and heat, a lightning bolt of ecstasy striking me, and suddenly, for one brief, mad moment, I was looking through his eyes—at myself. My own eyes were closed, my mouth open and gasping. His mouth was fastened on my neck.

Then I was back in my own body. My orgasm shook me, and Killian’s hot seed filled me, and my neck ached and throbbed pleasurably.

Outside the room, I could swear I heard cheering. Once upon a time, I would have been mortified, but now I was so intensely focused on Killian that it barely registered.

Our bodies shuddered together. Time lost all meaning. Finally, we collapsed together, and he slid out of me, but his arms still encircled me. We lay gasping for breath. My trembling hand moved up and felt my neck. I felt a small ridge of scarring.

“Heals immediately,” he murmured into my hair. “And now you wear my mark, so every man will know you’re mine.”

“Caveman.” I kissed his shoulder.

“That’s me. Except I don’t need a club to protect you.”

More time drifted by, and I stared out the window at the moon, mesmerized.
